Thank you for this very important rant, dear Alie! Absolutely right that the oceans need our care as much as the lands that we live on. And it comes back to haunt us because pollution in the ocean even those small microbeads from our personal products get eaten by fish which we in turn end up eating...

Thank you so much Helen for reading and then reviewing my little rant. I loved your comments.
Comment from Gail Denham
This is becoming a huge problem - I've seen documentaries on the "oceans" of plastic trash contained in some of the water. It's incredible. And perhaps cities and towns are partly at fault - I think they're not always careful where they shove their garbage.
Good reminder story.

I enjoyed your write...and agree with the tragedy of earth's water being polluted---(particularly by plastic!)-- Not a single complaint about style or spelling or punctuation... But is this a "fiction" entry, really? I mean I wish it was--but it seems pretty "non-fiction" to our planet's great detriment! Maybe those who decide such things are not leaning so heavily on the fiction aspect versus such a fine write!--Karenina

Thank you for reviewing, and your kind comments, thinking about it, I will probably change it to non fiction.
-
Maybe you can do so after the contest is over (if it is not)---I HAVE seen many writer's garner substantial votes for a very good write such as this...even if the genre skirts the edge a bit!--Karenina

Totally agree with your sentiments over pollution. We have "clean up day." folks get together and scoop tons of rubbish from the incoming tides. This pollution can't be stopped because it is World Wide. Each of us can make a difference. Aust. has only just (in the last six months) changed to paper carry bags for groceries. US has had them for years! Thanks for sharing my friend.

Thank you for reviewing Kace. I do know what you mean, it truly seems like nobody care, it's not their job, someone else will do it.
Comment from Phyllis Stewart
Very good! People need to hear this ten times a day. Humans are the only life form polluting the planet, but all animals suffer.
Did you know that tests show microscopic plastic bits in our stomachs if we eat fish? The garbage food chain starts and ends us. It's a crime, but not enough of us care. Sad.

In this case, it might well be someone else's job. In the last fifty years most of the most polluted rivers, streams, and lakes in the United States have been cleaned to their pre wwii levels. The misfortune is at the same time the rest of the world has deteriorated. I wear a 4Ocean bracelet.

I just finished writing a poem about water shortage and was drawn to your Flash Non- fiction story. A very good essay on the problems that face our world.

This is excellent, Alie. I agree with you. It's the "entitlement mentality." Litter laws aren't being enforced. It's going to get worse as the whole world turns into a trash heap.

Hi, Allie. Unfortunately yours is a voice crying in the wilderness. People say they care but still continue to toss trash wherever it suits them. I fear many abuses to our planet will be certain downfall someday soon. Good essay, my friend. Bless you. Bob

Thank you for reviewing Bob, I know I am just one voice but sometimes it just takes one voice. I don't mind being that one. Blessings to you.
