Zee!!! This post needs a 10! I only have an unfortunate 5... I hear you, I feel you, I've done the same. I've been taken out of context way too many times by my own family, who are more or less the only people I even really spoke with on FB. I would occasionally see a reunion post from HS from a person I went with. Other than that I really didn't pay much attention to those posts. I mean, there are only so many pictures of someone's new puppy you can look at and so many pictures of their kid's soccer game.
My problem though was family... I had a niece that wouldn't let go of something I had let go of months before and that she had nothing to do with... kept calling me selfish and a lot of other things... so I finally just left. I kept my messenger though because I like to talk to one of my sisters and a couple of other people. Then, my niece has a baby... and I was told by a cousin, (when I wasn't told about the baby being born) that I had abandoned my family because I left FB. Well, I don't think so... they live in the same damned town as me! ... I don't think I need that kind of commentary either, so I blocked the Bitch.

Yes, it?s turned toxic for a great many people. Proves the old theory, ?Familiarity Breeds Contempt?. Thanks for sharing your story. Confirms my beliefs.

So good to see you post again, Kiddo. and I coldn't be happier with a post than I am with this fantastic, funny article/essay. I haven't gone on FB in months and months, mainly because of just what you have said here. To me it is all a gossipy bunch of bullshit! (And I don't care about the post saying Jesse is going to take a shower now etc. Ugh! Bob

I hear ya - I was part of the generation that got an account just to see what my kids were up to - then all the kids moved on to Snapchat or something else because there were too many old people on Facebook.

It can be a sad window into our society - opinionated and uniformed is a bad combination, and it's all-too-common on Facebook.

Your story arc with its movement from celebrating new birth to kids in basements reading pornography probably describes many people's experience of social media. Very clever and creative. And your last line gives it a touch of poignancy.

Really well-written!

I've never been into FB. You find some really vicious stuff sometimes and I never wanted to be part of it. However, (smile) my husband has an account and keeps me up-to-date with sanitised versions of what our 'friends' are up to.

I picked up a few points:
I couldn't wait to get up and signon. - should be 'sign on'

cheer leader - one word?

quarter back - one word?

Randy, owner and operator of, Randy's Used Car's- delete comma after 'of' and apostrophe in 'Car's'

Louise has a "Go Fund Me" for her bosses ex-alcoholic cousin Timmy, in need of a liver transplant. - 'bosses' should be 'boss's'

Patty Bishop's, third husband, fueled by frustration and fermented grapes - delete comma after 'Bishop's'

They makes me feel bad - should be 'make'

Cheers
Judy

Sounds like you have done an about-face on Facebook. Sometimes you can get jaded by everyone's posts. Everyone starts to sound like old mail. I think some of these sound humorous in a sad way. Am not even going to imagine why the hand puppets are soiled. Thank you for posting a humorous slice of life decision piece.

I like how this short piece starts by detailing the trivialities of Facebook. I'm sure many readers will be able to relate to this. Then, the narrative slips into the undesirable underbelly of Facebook. It's neatly crafted {smiles}.

Here are a few points you might like to consider:

Mary Ann, former high school cheer leader and exwife of "Spike" -- Spag? In this case, "cheerleader" is a single word, and it's "ex-wife".

This gets, 110 Likes, 24 Sad, and 2 laughs.) -- Spag. The closing parenthesis has no corresponding opening parenthesis.

Randy, owner and operator of, Randy's Used Car's, -- Spag? No comma needed after "operator of"?

Patty Bishop's, third husband, -- Spag. No comma after "Patty Bishop's".

Like when I see grandpa with a pee stain on the front of his pants. It's embarrassing. -- I love this simile {smiles}.

The really sad thing...I'm not sure anyone will notice I'm gone. -- Oh, how so true of the Facebook community in general {smiles}.

This is about a party, you joined and participated but left the party for reason unknown, and it was simply something done secretly and you wished not to make in public; well said.
