-A great picture of Ellie May and a
very good chapter, Sandra.
-I didn't stop to think that she must
be excited about being in the book, too.
-Poor Ellie is so scared, and Herbie is
trying so hard to be gentle.
-I like how you portray that so
a child is not frightened.
-I also like how you show the
trust Ellie has in Hetiwa.
-The scene with Thomas and Eric is
done well, and breaks up the tension.
-Hetiwa's response to Ellie's
singing is very touching.
-The ending is also good, as Ellie is re-united
with her dad, and the Indians want
to have a special celebration.
-But...there's always one of those...
The Medicine Man not only wants to
speak with Eric, but in English!
-I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted Eric and
Herbie to stay, or maybe he only wants
Herbie to because he is a Great Spirit!
-Then, what?!!

Thank you for another of your brilliant review, Pam, and for all the beautiful stars. Your support throughout all my writing has been so encouraging it keeps me writing. Now then, what is it that the Medicine Man wants to chat about? And, more importantly, how come he is speaking perfect English all of a sudden when no one else in the tribe can? Hmm. I think Eric is in for one huge surprise! Biggest hugs, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome and deserving, Sandra. I don't have a clue to the answers, but I am guessing you do! I think it will be a mystery character!

Hi Sandra,

Another good instalment. I'm sure Eric is loving this. I am also dyslexic so I know how difficult it can be.

body away from that thing that was talking to her. - maybe consider changing the first 'that' to 'the'. It may be a little smoother.

Good stuff

You are? That is encouraging. Eric's mother is too, and she coped well. Eric has started to catch the letters and putting them together, and with all the help he'll get at his new school I don't doubt he'll be reading these stories by himself soon.
I hadn't noticed the two 'that' words being so close together, thanks for that, Gareth. I'll go and sort that now. Thanks for the encouraging review, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Very readable story. I did stumble over "bolshie" and "stroppy." Obstreperous made more sense by itself. Interesting characters meeting these Native Americans. Hetiwa is an interesting name. It feels like there is mutual respect developing stronger in each chapter.

Thank you so much for reading this part and your nice review. Obstreperous would make sense to grown-ups, but not to most 11-year-old boy, so because this is written for that age group and younger, the meaning of the word had to come in, and it was better to do it through Herbie, a machine. You aren't the only one to like Hetiwa's name, it was, and might still be, an Arapaho Indian girl's name back in the 1800s and earlier. The Chief's name, likewise. Thanks again, I really appreciate your support. :)) Sandra xx

Do you make your names up or do you find them online? You always come up with wonderful ones like Hetiwa.

I love the word obstreperous.

For some reason (maybe the sense of adventure), and even though it's very different, this reminds me of reading Famous Five as a little girl. How I loved those books!

Great chapter and great photo.

Thanks for sharing.

I searched Google for Arapaho Indian names. Chief Niwot, was an actual chief and his name meant 'Chief Left Hand' guess left-handed people were unknown back in the early 1800s. I wrote the meaning of Hetiwa down, and can't find it now. I'll let you know if I do. It was something nice, anyway.
I enjoyed those books too. A long time ago now. Thank you, Maria, for your lovely review. Big hugs. Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra,
Well, it looks like this is turning into a Sandra Stoner-Mitchell family reunion,
next thing you know, Graham will turn out to be the medicine man. :)

An excellent chapter. I especially like the portrayal of Hetiwa.

I told you there was more to that medicine man than met the eye. An excellent twist and ending for the chapter.

The dialogue was excellent, and quite realistic.
Well done
Robert

A really excellent chapter, Sandra. The Indians have softened their attitude but I'm still curious about what drove them to attack Ellie's father and abduct Ellie.

That shaman is turning out to be quite the conundrum!

Good ending leaving your readers gasping for more

Blessings Julia

Cute picture of 'Ellie May.' So now she has been found and is reunited with her father and we find out the reason she was taken was because of her beautiful voice. Very interesting. Now the Medicine Man wants to talk to Eric. Humm.. =} Looking forward to the next chapter. Rox
