This is a lovely tribute to Dean. He was a good guy and encouraging to everyone. His own talent was boundless and I particularly liked the way he put words together--rather than the genre. I read his work anyway because of his abilities. We will all miss him greatly. Marilyn

THANK YOU! You make several great points in this presentation. So many people mark Dean as a one-trick pony -- someone even said that. (ugh) But he was so much more. Yes, his primary genre was horror, but there was a reason for that - if people cared enough to get to know him. (ugh, again.)

THANK YOU! You make several great points in this presentation. So many people mark Dean as a one-trick pony -- someone even said that. (ugh) But he was so much more. Yes, his primary genre was horror, but there was a reason for that - if people cared enough to get to know him. (ugh, again.)

Thank you Robyn. I never saw Dean as just a horror writer he was much much more. He had a beautiful way with words and was always they to suggest and advise.
I will dearly miss him

HI Waves, I am so sorry for the lose of Dean...but am glad he is out of pain now...I know he had been in and out of the hospital several times...he was truly a master at horror poems and writings...but he also wrote beautiful romantic poems as well...he was a brilliant writer in all he wrote...and a wonderful friend...his reviews always made me smile...I miss him...and he will be remembered on FanStory by many...I know he is with God now...May He Rest in Peace...this is a wonderful tribute to him my sweet friend...and your picture couldn't be better...God Bless...love Linda xxoo

OMG. It seems every time I become active on FanStory, I'm hit with news of the death of a FS icon. First Michael and now Dean. You have described Dean's impact succinctly and with such a personal rendering to make his loss all the more profound. I am so sorry.

Hi Mary yes it is a very sad day for me. Dean was a great mentor and friend we had many a personal conversation about poetry and life and he truly confided in me on many things. He had a huge impact on me as a poet and as a person.
May he rest in peace

Such a tribute you have put together for Dean. He was a great friend and mentor. I will personally miss him dearly.He used to talk to me about his daughter.
