I got a kick out of this, Bill. Some risk more than others I guess, especially when the contest is blind. Maybe it levels the playing field. Best of luck in the contest. Marilyn

His ego eh, Bill? Well, if not winning... or placing... in a contest is going to crush an ego then I wouldn't have one left! I did win one once, a complete surprise to me! I couldn't believe it! I was completely flabbergasted. It was for a write a script contest. I'd never written one at all before. What a surprise! Of course, that was a while back and I haven't placed anything since... I don't think. Not surprising. :)

I have only won or placed when the usual suspects haven?t entered. I exaggerate the angst here, but have to wince at frequent flyers winning all the time.

Never let your ego get the better of your pen, we all know we can't please everybody, but if you give into that just think of how many of us (people) you will be denying your words keep on writing for writings sake****kahpot

Anyone with thin skin that has the balls to put his attempts at writing on public display, opens himself up to multiple attacks, but at the same time is set up for possible surprise validation and adulation. Go for it.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will flay me, roast me over an open flame, and bury me alive. I may be exaggerating a bit.

Ya think?

LOL! This meets the contest requirements splendidly as you deliver a technically sound 3 Line Poem. The content will speak to pretty much the entire FS audience as we have all been there and done that. Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

We all put our egos at risk when we enter a contest. Trying to win is hard, but putting a pice up for review can be just as hard. Good luck in the contest.

I relate so well to this. We all put our egos on the line every time we enter a piece, whether it's a poem or story. I suppose we all need to develop thicker skins. :)

There can only be one, someone said. We know, of course, who that is. Others will know someday as well. : )

That happens to me time after time. I don't seem to learn from experience. You do risk bruising your ego when you enter and find yourself at the bottom of the heap. Excellent topic, and you sum up the situation nicely. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Bill, This is a very interesting 3 Line poem you have penned in the 5-7-5 format for the contest. You used very good words and really neat imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

Comment from Loren .
All I can say is that your ego (your self worth is far more than what this is being promoted for. Believe in yourself, Bill. Yes, I know it's expensive and I completely understand. On the other hand, great work is recognized regardless of the book-binding it is presented in. I do hope this does well. It certainly sends a great message. Loren

Not my ego, Loren. The guy in this poem. Thank you for the vote of confidence though.
