What an excellent entry for the contest! It deserves to do very well. The rhyme and rhythm are very good and it flows like a story, keeping the excitement and attention of the reader from beginning to end. The author seems to have an innate understanding of the trials of the trail and the bravery of cowboys in their tough line of work.

Dear Mystery Western Poet,
Whew! You had me really worried for a minute. I was thinking if poor ole Cookie died, everybody was going to be in big trouble!! As it is, they're gonna have a dickens of a time rounding up all that food and seeing what's worth keeping and sorting through it. And poor ole Dan, too! Lost. Oh, well. At least no humans were killed.
