Without a doubt, I could never have said it better myself. Living in a closed-minded world, bordering on mindless. It's always nice to drop into Fanstory for one of your diminutive joggles and a smile. Great job as always!

First impressions are always misconceiving. Thinking one will be sweet and nice only to turn out to be self centered and end up being a bitch in just a few minutes.

Thank you for the nice rating. Blind dates have always been a dice role, but in today's fractured society, it's more a game of 2-card guts.
    Continued success in you writings.

This is a wonderfully concise, well-written vignette that shows how some people just cannot accept other people's differences. That Claire definitely comes across as a bitch. As she is on a date, she is obviously single and may well remain in that state, also without family connections as she has insisted on being kept a secret. I like this little story a lot. It certainly has impact.

Hi howard11,

You kind of left me when at the top you write - The hostess brought his date. I presume that the word hostess is feminine and the word his is masculine- So Is find a disconnect (or is it me?) - I'm liberal and open - red or white- veal or veg - Please, help educate me. - Lobber

Thank you for the nice rating. I can see where the initial sentence might be confusing, and a few changed words might have made circumstances clearer... a man waiting at table for his blind date. Good luck with your own future writing efforts.

Yes we do live in an era where people think they have the arrogance to judge others on their political, food choices, dress code... I think we do not have the right to judge others or throw the first stone.

I really like this flash fiction story. So few words, but much meaning. The author notes were an added bonus. There are so many people like 'Claire' in this world, but fortunately, and hopefully, it is balanced out by the 'down to earth' and 'everyone is equal' individuals.
This is a great contest entry, and I wish you the very best!

Oh boy. How can one flee over the difference in wine pedigree? Just indicates a difference, I think in the world we live in. If only, all could be more inclusive!
