Yeah, I think we usually fight for much more, but mainly wars--just as fights between people--stem from pride. The idea that we're better than the other country, or person, so we have justification for our actions--whatever they may be.

You have made excellent use of all of your syllables in this 5-7-5 that
meets the prompt requirements. Land has always been precious--always
been fought over, at one time to the death.

I think we fight for freedom just to live in peace and have personal liberty, I know there are fights over land grabbing too, and war occurs in such situations, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I think they are talking about our country, but I like your way of thought as well. I mean I know that the first and for most but when you stop to think our military goes to those countries to fight the battle too! Our soldiers fighting in their country is helping protect their citizens too. Look how they fought to get the women treated in the middle east. I would say they had to have made something better for them.
Good post!
Patty

The rolling sand dunes....the picture shows how the wind can make sand look like waves.....I wonder who owns like the desert sands? Probably ranches would purchase this type of land.

Unfortunately there are some dwellers in these deserts who wish us harm. One does wonder why. I do enjoy driving through great expanses of "nothing" land - no houses, businesses, etc. it's a good feeling - as if we'd been freed.
nice poem

It's been said that even if the least of us is not free, none of us are.
Sometimes I question the way we choose our fights. Are motives are often less than altruistic. Sometimes, its the riches lying beneath the sand that we fight for. I'm not sure that's heroic.

Best of luck. Peace, Lee

Your contest entry is certainly thought provoking. Those endless battles that our heroes fight for our freedoms are akin to the ever ending expanse of a desert vista. Unfortunately, some lands are not free.

Best wishes in the voting.

Much blood has been shed over barren wastelands over the years. It certainly makes one think. Perhaps, for the purposes of the contest, "heroes" instead of "hero's".
