Write on! Very well written and it sure tells a story in so few syllables.

And the photo illustrates your poem so very well. Good luck in the contest as there are a number of good entrees.

Thank you so much and yes there are a lot of good entries but the contest really don?t mean as much to me as the creativity that comes out of me! I sincerely appreciate your positive encouragement! xoxo

This 5-7-5, River of Sorrow, has the right set up and provides that God can mitigate all sorrows and provide release from the bindings that hold us to life's trials.

Yeah, but this isn't a church; it's a writing site. Not looking for a sermon, but poetry and prose. If I wanted a sermon, I'd go to one of the many churches in the area that don't don't teach bible scripture anymore, things like homosexuality and divorce are sins (unless one divorces for a biblical reason, which 95% of people--mostly women--don't), and tattoos and piercings and smoking are sins. So what's the point of going to church when even clerics are promoting their own agenda and not God's. And don't even get me started in all the false, so-called "Christian" religions such as Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Catholicism.

This contest was to write something thought-provoking. I did not write a sermon, I wrote a 5-7-5 about hurting and God being able to comfort. I don't go to church for the many reasons you stated, (and believe me, I could go on about it probably for much longer than you), but I do believe in a Creator who I can turn to. This poem was obviously thought-provoking as you wrote me a book in return on the subject of "religion", but my poem was not about "religion", only simply about God and my relationship with Him. If you have an issue with "religion", then you commented on the wrong poem. Poetry is about personal feelings on many issues - God, nature, love, hate or whatever one feels the heart moves them to write. It is not about whatever you might feel one should write about. Have a nice day! :)

Faith in God bases, only His love can succour, in darkness many human tears stream through the river of sorrow, well said, well done. Liked and enjoyed the read. Write to Inspire, Change.

I looked up "succour" before I noticed you were kind enough to define it for us below your poem. You did a very good job choosing this very descriptive word. Thanks for sharing - good job.

The image you chose as an illustration to your poem enhances the beauty of your words. "River of sorrow into darkness, many tears stream. Good luck with the contest.

You have made effective use of all of your syllables in this moving spiritual 5-7-5. You have conveyed the powerful theme that God has a the unique ability to dry tears.
