I'm all out of sixes! Your story has a sweet innocence that I love. If only more people were like Brett and Angel, what a wonderful world this would be. So, God is having a rest, and his children are going to play!!! Hmm. Grandpa was a huge influence in Brett's life, and so much love, that I can understand how he grew up to be such a good man. An angel is perfect for him. I really enjoyed this chapter, and look forward to the next one. :)) Sandra xx

This is an AWESOME chapter in your collaborative work, Bill and Cathy. First the cover design is beautiful. The image is striking and the color scheme really sets it off and lets readers have a feeling of what they are about to read.
The prelude is beautifully worded. I love the inclusion of the Bible verse. The discussion directed at readers is thought-provoking, too. The 'about the authors' makes readers feel as if both authors are speaking to each reader individually.
The setting is well-described. The rich imagery lets readers feel as if they are there in the meadow seeing/hearing this story as it unfolds. I love the way the authors include the butterflies, fireflies, the stars in the sky, and the fact that Bill chose to talk to God in the meadow among all of His beauty. The conversation with God and Bill sounds true to life. We gain insight into Bill's character from it. Readers, also, learn more about the family dynamics of Bill's family. I love how he reminisces about Grandpa and Grandma and his years living with them. It is easy to understand how important their relationship with each other was and how it made Bill the way he is.
The conversation Bill and God have about Angel sets the tone for her character. Readers learn a little of her life and dreams and heartache, too. They learn that angels are like humans and our interactions with them is special. This is the 'prelude' coming to action.
The cliffhangar makes me want to return to find out what happens next. The thunder and lightning can mean several things and offer more avenues to take this story.

Well, this kind of came up as an interesting comparison to a movie I just watched a day or two ago that came out way back in 1990 called "Almost An Angel" with Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski. For some reason, it didn't do as well in the box office. But the idea that an angel can be more human than angel definitely has appeal for readers who are also more human than angel. I think if God "whispered down" it would not end with an exclamation mark. But your enthusiasm shines through.

Beautiful story and I think is very suitable for a younger age. I liked a lot these sentences:""I'm always with you, don't you forget. Yes, I hear you, Bret. Yet, it's going to take an angel who is an expert on human behavior because she must contend with your 'attention-seeking, dramatic way of speaking, rapid shifts in emotion, and self-centered personality.' Have faith in me, my son--I'm looking." This sounded very funny and witty and in a way settle the mood for the rest of the chapter.
