This chapter offers the reader a lot of wonderful sensory input with the garden surroundings and shed contents, plus a quaint dialect. It ends with a sense of hope sure to be continued in a later chapter(s). Best wishes with this excellent entry in the book chapter contest, my friend.

Yeah... but I actually wrote this a couple days before... and then I'm JUST getting 'settled' from packing and bringing my 'baby' yesterday so, don't hold your breath for anything else for a while.... I'm not even finished those freaking Algebra assessments....UGH!! ;) :) Glad you enjoyed, Lady S -- y'all take care up there! ;) ;) Yvette

Hey Yvette. It is an interesting shed that lights up when Nicholas entered through the door. I'm also a little curious what "shining" gardens are about unless that is a metaphor. Z

I left the younger audience 50 years ago. I don't get anything anymore. I'm over the hill and picking up speed.

This five-hundred-word second chapter of the continuing story of The Gardens of Weatherbury would certainly force anyone who hadn't read the the first two sections to want to do so. Between gnomes and sentient plants, the story is whimsical and intriguing.

I dipped into this one to see whether it might appeal (I don't usually like fantasy) and now you have made a problem for me. I liked it! So I will have to do MORE reading and check out the other chapters. I liked the mash-up of characters: a rose bush, a garden gnome, n humans. Intriguing.

The word to be used here is 'cord' (string or rope), because 'chord' is the music one (harnonic notes): pull-chord, light chord, "What chord?"

Hey, I like this! It has a magical quality. What fun to get into the locked shed and find a new world, or a passageway to a new and wonderful fantasy world. I'd be up for reading more of this story. You definitely got my attention.

Best wishes in the contest.

Joy xx
