This poem captures the drama of flying a kite so well. The minute form is great for conveying the quick movements, the dips and bends. And it tells a story--the fate of so many kites. Very enjoyable.

Hi Joanna. I am delighted you liked my kite poem. I wanted to write a peppy verse and, like you, think the Minute form allows for ... dips and bends.. haha. Thanks so much.

Oh, No - the kite broke!! I was enjoying the feeling of freedom with the kite flying interactions with the breeze and currents, and an eagle getting mentioned (I love raptors). Your poem is very engaging, with a nice action rhythm to it that suits the subject.

LOL! What a delightful offering that whispers to us that the Fall breezes will blow soon... right now, the air isn't moving at all and it tries to keep you from breathing in the middle of the day - LOL! ;) ;) Thanx for such a fun one, today, Melissa -- a Minute of Excitement! ;) :) Take care! Yvette

Hi Yvette. I am delighted you like this one. Minutes are fun and have a sing song quality to them. I think this is my favorite poetic form. Thank you.

Melissa,
This is a really fun one. When is the last time you flew a kite for real? I can't even remember!!!
I loved the wording and feeling of this poem. *smile* So happy and carefree...
The only thing you might consider editing is punctuation. Below is my take:
***
My kite is flying in the breeze;
a twisting tease.
Upon the winds,
it dips and bends.
Atop brisk currents in the air
--where eagles dare--
strong tugging pulls
(the) threaded spools.
Sharp snap and crackle of the wind
cause knots to rend.
On stiff, brisk gale...
"There goes the tail!"
***
You're welcome to hate it. *smile* Either way, this brought a smile - thanks for that! Have a merry day!

Haha... a very fun review. I am out and about and will look at it closer when I get home. Thanks so much for taking the time to look at it closely and make suggestions. Hugs!! By the way... I had a review that said winds and bends... and wind and rend do not rhyme... She was British... they rhyme to me, do they rhyme to you???

Welp, I would have said absolutely yes and she's a nut, but I googled them both and let Google pronounce them for me and turns out she's right. Bend is more like Baend. But shhhh?.
I think most people from the US will never know! hahaha

I used to take the kids down to the beach to fly kites during the spring and summer. It was exhilarating! My husband should probably do that again and try to recapture some of that youthful exuberance!

I never see anyone flying a kite anymore. In Calif they flew them all the time on the beach. Really cool shaped one with the two handles to control them. I think in many places this is a thing of the past. Fun poem and well done as always, Rox

Your poem and image brought back memories of when I was little and my father and I built and flew a kite. That's what good poetry should do, bring out fond memories.

Oh, how I used to love to fly a kite. I was more reminiscent of Charlie Brown and the kite eating tree. This is wonderful and beautifully set with a blue sky as the backdrop.
Sending you my best today as always,

Oh I always love a good, fun minute poem and especially when it's about a kite. Those consarnit contraptions that I have massive difficult getting to fly.
You've done it though and with great aplomb.
Excellent read, Melissa.

Hi Gloria... good morning! Your fun review makes me smile. I do hope you get a kite up in the air before too long... maybe on a windy autumn day. Thanks much!!
