This is a very poignant piece. It gets you right in the feels. Whilst it's well-written and engaging, the problem is that contest asks for a story, either fiction or non-fiction. It doesn't ask for a poem, which is what this is. I hope that doesn't lead to your disqualification. It would be a shame.
