So much wisdom! This is a treasure. When down in the dumps, go fishin'. I need to remember this! A fun poem to read, with an important takeaway. We are responsible for our own happiness.

Woman of many faces, of far and beautiful places, happy is what this poem says to me and with the fishing of the sea. You really know how to reel them in with pen in hand and (now-a-day computer on the prowl) :) We are all fishermen and with a smile God has us. :)

Happy day to you, and thanks for your review!

I agree. So easy to wallow and complain sitting in your house. You know that I am all for finding adventure and blessings, wherever they can be found. By the riverbank, volunteering, picnic, hiking through new woods. No one will be knocking at your door heading out blessings, hah. Bravo, j

I don't sit around waiting either. I might bump into you some time down by the riverbank! Thanks for your review.

I do spend time on river banks and swimming holes. Cheers, j

I adore your sentiment here Lisa, go fishing for happiness, at least the long wait for a bite with calm and soothe our tempers! I felt the serene vibes through you words here, love Dolly x

Amen! Very sound spiritual advice! And I like your wonderful play on words with different types of "rod" and the switch to fishing and sharing the happy things of life with others.

LisaMay you're on fire. This is a lovely write. Fishing for happiness is so much better than fishing for compliments. LOL. Excellent extended metaphor. Yeah, I like this one.
My grandson went sidewalk fishing once. But that's another story. LOL

A very well-written poem about going out to catch some happiness instead of feeding on the sorrows and pain that only bring more sorrows and pain. We can always find goodness beneath the piles of negativity.

Yes we can, it's a matter of looking in the right places, or creating the right places ourselves.

Delighted by the last stanza. Funny pun on "Keep it 'real'" just after using "reel" in the line above in stanza 2. Nice w alliteration in "worth its weight in wealth." An upbeat message overall. Not sure what to improve on this time around.

What a nice review! Thanks so much.

Great advice - some nice rhymes. We just had our youngest son and four of his kids (plus their dogs) overnight - now they're headed out to the lake to camp for maybe two weeks. we get the dogs.
For sure those kids will have fun - I pray they'll be happy for sure.
nice poem

Thanks for your lovely review, Gail. I hope the boys bring some fish back!
-
Thanks - naw - these kids don't fish (I don't think) - maybe find tadpoles at night with a flashlight or crawdads. what they do is ride the floats behind the boat - great fun - we've camped there for over 35 years - so for this (our youngest son) it's a tradition - and I'm delighted that he carries it on to his kids. wish we could go - we will for a day - but ...we have the grand-dogs. oi vey.

Family traditions are important. It's nice to think the place is nice enough to keep going back to.

It is for sure - nicest in Central Oregon I think.
