Hello Poet, I gave you your 3rd vote.
We are in control of many things but as far as the seasons go we must just take it as it comes.
I like the idea that you personified Winter who patiently is waiting with glee to let us feel its cold grip...knowing its time to reign nears when it sees chill winds blow and autumn leaves start to fall
Excellent choice of artwork ... that leaf is beautiful. I love autumn and its vivid colours.

Thanks for the review and vote. Are we just going to jump into winter? No jewelled coloured leaves and chill breezes of autumn? Haha. I am enjoying winter in Vermont after 22 years in a tropical climate. Have a lucky day.

Congratulations on your win. I lived in Tanzania and spent a lot of time in Zanzibar on the east coast of Africa. My mom likes my gentle stories. Thanks for your thoughts on this one. Cheers, j

Very well done. Although I lived in snowy weather for 18 years, I am not a fan of winter. Still, your poem hit all the right notes for me. I loved autumn, as it was beautiful, but always new that winter was just around the corner. Good luck in the contest.

Cheers, thanks for the review. In Vermont, we definitely have the four distinct seasons. Each one brings its unique joys (and grief) haha . Wish you a lucky day.

please you like avmurray's illustrations too!
'leaves spin on chill winds' gives me the season feeling and its accompanying fallen leaves imagery - great phrasing
you could have all four if you edited your last line to
'leaves spring on chill winds' - yours sounds better LOL

The poem makes winter sound like a bit like a grim reaper of leaves, ready to utterly dismantle whatever remains on the ground at the end of autumn. A true haiku.
