A very well-written fun 5-7-5 poem about the affection two lovers show to one another when they seem to be in a world of their own and no around exists.

Begging may be the only way. LOL

Good entry for the contest entry. Your illustration attracted me to review it.

Petting your lap dog likely will get you some smooches.

Best wishes for the voting.

Maybe smooches, maybe fleas. Thanks for your review, Mark.

This humorous 5-7-5, Make Me Your Lap Dog, has the right set up and finds that some will use the persona of man's best friend to get a woman.

I think he should stick to having a dog, definitely man's best friend. Women are tricky.

Well now. He finds himself in quite the predicament. He asks to be made her lap dog. When he asked for this privilege then, he has lost his rights to ask for what he wants. She will decide when or if she cuddles and pets him. I think that perhaps at some point, she will make him beg. I like this clever, fun, and well written work. Well done!

Thanks for your review, Jeffrey. I think we all have to beg for treats from time to time... wagging our tails expectantly doesn't always get noticed. Good dog! I hope his girlfriend doesn't get fleas off of him.

I liked the humor of this short poem and especially putting myself in the Speaker's place and enjoying all that attention vicariously. A delightful snapshot of young love.

I'm pleased you found it entertaining Rod. A couple of reviewers were bored by. What is considered humorous is so subjective.

Affection?especially when it?s given freely?is NEVER boring. Rod

Exactly 17 syllables and a perfect 5-7-5. You chose just the right photograph to accompany your creation. Your last line certainly made me smile. I loved the comparison of creature comforts and human comforts.
You've got a great contest entry here, and I wish you the very best!

Thanks for your review. It's odd how subjective humour is. You thought the last line was funny... I clearly did or I wouldn't have written it, yet 2 other reviewers were bored by it.

Good rhythm and use of the limited amount of syllables. The only comment I would make is that the last line is maybe not as funny as it could be. It doesn't sound quite as comic to me...

Thanks for your review. Humour is very subjective... some have smiled at the last line, some don't. I wonder which of the entries is yours so I can see what is your style of humour. Sometimes it depends on where people come from, what mood they are, what time of day they read it, what age group they are in... etc.

He he he, I don't think I have ever had a partner who was or wanted to be a lap-dog! Although I have seen friends who have controlled their partners, a fun write, love Dolly x

I never have either... that's probably why I thought it was funny; other reviewers have been underwhelmed by it. Maybe it is normal life for them.

Hmm, I have one like that. On the serious side, anytime-affection is underrated. Dogs do remind you when they want to be patted or have their ears scratched. People don't necessarily want to have to remind you.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.
