This is funny. And it tells a story so well! I thought the last line was an awesome punch line! It reminds me of how I like to make up almost-Spanish words, too, although not necessarily from a gringo accent. Thank you for sharing!

This one has earned my last 6. It is very well-written and so funny. I especially like the last line. I'm from Mississippi; I can relate to all that you have said. Love the artwork!

Very well done - with humor and examples of the language classes. The rhythm and rhyme seem good. Enjoyed your limericks. Good luck in the contest. The flow of the story is done well.

This meets the contest requirements beautifully a you deliver not one, but thee well constructed Limericks. I had to smile as I never thought about how much the southern drawl could impede progress with Spanish or French - makes you wonder what it would do when confronted with Latin or German LOL. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

I think German would be hysterical. I took Latin for two years - of course, we didn't think we sounded funny.
Thanks for reading and for your lovely review.

This is a cute poem. Loved your bit of humor with gracias. That would impose a problem, lol. It's a well-written, interesting, fun read. Your artwork is perfect, love the dress.

This was a very funny limerick and story you shared for this contest.
Y'all did a good job telling the Southerner's lingo point of view (-;
For those FS readers who may know 'nada' Spanish, your author's note might also include the translation for 'gracias.' LOL

Oh, so many of my classmates just flat out butchered both the French and the Spanish.... my track coach used to say that our long distance runner spoke 'Red Neck Frog'.... LOL! :) Of course, that would be SOOOOOO non-politically correct today!! ;) :) This is a great entry as you've certainly got me laughing over here! Thanx for the memories and best of luck at the polls! ;) Yvette

I enjoyed your limerick suite, especially your description of how a Southern girl spoke Spanish. I taught English, so I know there were many reasons students did or did not want ME. Rod

doth thou mean thy Chicaga accent??
thanks for reading, and glad you liked it.

I was easy-going in the classroom but had a reputation for giving too much writing homework and having essay exams, so many students asked their counselors for anyone else but me. Rod

and those who stuck with you learned more and were successful in life. hooray!

I hoped you could keep the teacher from making the girls cry. Sounds like a real caring class. We had a math teacher who liked to paddle everyone including the girls.
Good job!

I like your limerick. Your word choice was descriptive and vivid. Your poem reminded me of my language fiasco in high school. The second stanza is the best. Good job and good luck.
