not "prepared for a cold shower."

I enjoyed reading your lovely descriptive prose - I felt I was there in the garden. I loved watching the robin in the bird bath.
Also liked the memory of picking the flowers for your mother.
The Tanka is a lovely condensed version of the prose.

I really have to try this form sometime! Very upbeat style here with the flowers, young robin disgusted slightly by his first cold bath, and the dawn. And then there are poetic devices right in the tanka, too. I see alliteration in "dainty" and "dangle" and "time" and "treasured." Very nice. Good luck in the contest!
