Excellent rhymer! Flows beautifully and I adore the energy of this piece. Writing is such a tumultuous pursuit and you have captured the essence of that ride with panache. I love the power in the shower line. Or in my case the bath. :)) Very relatable. Enjoying your sharp humour and multisyllabic vocabulary. :) Cheers, annh

Thank you so much for this glowing review! You are the first reviewer to mention the power in the shower line and I thought that was the most memorable image myself.

My muse is an angel tippytoeing through the tulips of paradise, LisaMay. She kisses me, mixes love with breakfast until I'm full. She scolds me and scares me and then tucks me into bed. I think she slips into someone else's lap, but I ain't caught her yet. Congratulation on your win.

Thanks for your congrats. Your muse seems a bit different in your poem I just reviewed. But that is a good thing... different moods, different voices, different subjects. I hope she keeps turning up, but if she takes the day off you'll probably find something to comment on anyway.

This poem was great. There are some many great lines. I love the flow of the poem. My favorite line is "So if this poem's rough, what more can I say?
My muse said, "Stuff it! You're on your own today!" I like this line because sometimes it just works out that way. Good luck and excellent poem!

What a lovely review! Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for telling me which lines you liked; I thought I'd finish the poem off with the muse being really unhelpful, to show how hard it can be to get a poem done.

Manic with panic interesting choice of title and it even rhymes:) I like this poem is very cheerful and playful, like a kid who plays charades. Good luck

I enjoy wordplay. I like reading poetry aloud. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your writing aloud. That is the only way to read poetry. If a reader does not read your poem aloud they will miss a lot. the reader, if they are a writer, will appreciate this line and the images it sprouts: "My muse is a flower, tree, river, or bird -
they each will help me to find the right word" This is very nicely done.

Guess you'd best fire that muse if he/she deserts you in the middle of a contest - but I think you're ahead in this one. Good for you. Nice poem - lots of word pictures.

Hahaha
Love this rollercoaster of a write. The reader has to hang on tight or risk getting thrown off.

The last stanza is so true. The panicked Muse.

Good luck!

Blessings Julia

Thanks for reviewing, Julia. My random muse was jumping around in agitation somewhat, because of the deadline!

You get my last star of the week. This is so well-written, vividly detailed, and comical. It's a pleasant change from the descriptions of the muse as some mystical, magical, indescribably powerful and ethereal force that
floats in and--Boom! There's a poem.

Thanks for giving up your last star! My muse is very changeable and down-to earth... in fact, in is probably just ME. I am creative in various fields... art and photography, and basically I think it is a matter of being aware, having a good vocabulary, a powerful imagination, and the desire to put them all to work and--Boom! There's a poem.

Yep, the muse is exactly like that. They can be quite irritating when you're busy or trying to sleep, then make themselves scarce when you need them. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed reading this and like the structure you chose... My Muse... is a wonderful lead in to all of your descriptive phrases and wording. Great choice of rhyming words that help send it along at a good clip. Well done.
