I love how the line "she waits at the ranch" is given a new meaning once you reach the end of the poem. That line and the line about :"the truths and the lies" make it clear that, while this is cowboy poem, it's not trite or cliched. It's very introspective and bittersweet. Loved it - wish I had a six left.

This meets the contest requirements nicely with the correct theme, line per stanza count, stanza count and rhyme scheme. The content is serene with an undertone of resolute acceptance which becomes clear in the last stanza. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.
