What a great tribute poem to your friends. I know they will have the feeling of sailing away to visit old friends, then on to new Canadian adventures. Thanks for sharing this loving poem with us.

I really enjoyed your poem and thought it fits the requirements of the contest nicely!
I love the line "a Kaleidoscope of wildflowers in full bloom" what a beautiful analogy!! Thank you soo much for sharing this!

This is quite lovely, both poetically and as a send-off farewell tribute to your friends. Artwork is a perfect choice. How very thoughtful of you to put your creativity into a poem. You should definitely enlarge and frame for them. The flow of the piece matches the flow of the water in the artwork, just the overall bit comes together quite nicely. Great job!

Linda, what a lovely poem with which to farewell your friends as they embark on their long journey. It is full of beautiful images and I particularly like the positivity which springs from the words, and the good wishes with which you end the poem.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This sweet prayerful wish has for me the flavor of an Irish Blessing. The mind is lulled to gentle breezes, calm waves, and visual beauties galore starting with the first stanza refraine of 'sail away, sail away...' Ending with the harkening to remembrances of beauty while saying farewell.
Very nicely done, Linda!

How nice of you to have written this delightful poem for your friends, filled with sincere good wishes for the trip itself and for enjoyment of the places and people they encounter.
It seems slightly odd to use sailing for a road trip, so I put that aside and just concentrated on the sentiments expressed in your poem.

LisaMay: the first words that popped into my head was 'sail away' and then I attempted to keep the poem light and breezy. In their minds, they were 'sailing away' from hard work and responsibility. livelylinda

...and what a lovely feeling that is. To sail away is much more evocative than 'drive away'!

The way I read it was about someone who is terminally ill, or an older person who just wants to make sure they get in one last goodbye. Odd choice of a picture of a gondola in Venice for a road trip poem.

Earl Corp: you are way off on this one. No one is terminally ill. My friends moved here to Florida from Maine and have worked very hard, badly needing a vacation. The words, 'sail away' were just to keep the poem light and airy to describe their long road trip. Thanks for reading. livelylinda

I enjoyed this poem and the wishes it sent. In the line that starts, "rushing against," did you mean to use the word "boulder" instead of "bolder?" Maybe it was a play on words. At any rate, I enjoyed the poem and the picture goes really well with it.
