Hi Christie,
I'm sure by now everyone has told you how nuts this is! I especially love the offer of the book at the top. Send me this, send me that, 'send me fistfuls of cash!' (we all know that's what they really want!)
I loved that line.
I love chipmunks too! Why no picture? I would have sent you scads to choose from!
A very fun read,
Susan :)

Oh my. I forgot to see if the chipmunk photo was still available after 3 years. I rarely revive anything from the past, but I was in a nutty mood. Thank you for reading and reviewing.

Ha, this was a funny post. Thank you for the late-night laugh. I got to show the wife this.
my favorite line: Baptist chipmunks are the easiest to find and identify, since they are always chattering on about the "nuts" and bolts of the Bible. The same goes for Jehovah's Witness chipmunks. If you can't find them, they will find you!

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. They are so noisy and cute. I wonder if they have to pack all their belongings in chatterboxes when they move from one tree to another to live.

Funny, very creative.
There sure is a lot of nuts in this world! And we all would like to think that we are not one of them, but allergic to all of them.
Nice work. Smooth read.

Thank you much. I may be on a bit of a nutty chipmunk run for a while. Cashew later!

That's hilarious. I didn't know chipmunks went to church. If I buy that book, will it tell me where all their churches are? I'd love to go and take pictures. Perhaps you could even use some in your next book.

Hmm, not sure yet. I did see a squirrel run out in front of our driveway a day or two ago. Maybe I should interview squirrels next. Yet another imaginary book possibility! Thank you for your review.

Hello again Crystiecookie999. I love when you do these mashup/parody stories. This one was Infomercial meets animal planet, meets religion. It was funny, imaginative, and inventive. Great work!

I haven't read a lot of pieces in this style, but all the word-plays definitely made me crack up (I had no idea there could be so many jokes to do with the word nut...). My only comment (very minor one, if it's only one) is that maybe you should work a bit on the transition between the first paragraph and the rest: it didn't seem quite as fluid as the rest of the writing (that was great and very engaging!) to me. Thanks a lot for making me smile during my breakfast!

Thank you for your review! I had to look you up to see why you were eating breakfast close to midnight, and then realized France is not midnight like the U.S.!
-
Haha yes it's 8AM for me, perfect time for breakfast (I hadn't thought it could create confusion)!

I enjoyed your tongue-in-cheek piece with its clever imagination. I, too, often use puns and word play in my writing - I liked your humour, and also seeing that lovely photo. We don't have chipmunks in NZ.

What? No chipmunks in New Zealand? How about ground squirrels or ordinary squirrels? Thanks for your review!
-
No. No squirrels at all. We have possums though... but we hate them because they are destroying our forests.
I am a nature lover, an animal lover and a conservationist so I am very conflicted about the possums. Here in NZ the only good possum is a dead one. I am also an Australian, and they are protected over there!
-
The possums are destroying the forests? Are they chewing up stuff like beavers? I remember termites being a problem in Puerto Rico in some missionary apartments, where they left little piles of digested sawdust "stuff" everywhere. Could there be other things destroying the forests instead?
-
Possums are a serious pest animal in New Zealand and a threat to our forests and native wildlife. They eat leaves, flowers, leaf buds, fruit, eggs, birds, insects and snails. People used to think that possums only ate plants. ... Possums carry a disease called bovine Tb (tuberculosis) which they spread to cattle. Plenty of reasons to think we would be better off without them! They were introduced here - not native - and have bred to alarming numbers in some areas. People are encouraged to trap them, but I can't do that. They are too cute.
-
Hmm. I am wondering if the possums could be controlled with the same treatments used here to control the breeding of wild horses. But my background is not biology.
-
I'm sure the experts are thinking of whatever possibilities might work. There are no natural predators in NZ. We don't have any carnivorous predators apart from some birds of prey. We don't even have snakes here, which makes it great for camping!
-
No snakes? Wow, no wonder my classmate from high school who lived down the street from us moved there and has stayed put for about 20 years now.
-
It's very safe in the outdoors here as far as wildlife is concerned, plus it is very beautiful. The rugged scenery and changeable weather does have dangers for accidents and suffering exposure.

Thank you for the kind review. The photo came from an excellent photographer on fanart.

Hello Crystie. It looks like to me you covered about all of the bases. I found my favorite chipmunk in the collection. It is a clever narrative of working to define the differences in the chipmunks. It is quite interesting that the same differences exist in people. Hmmmmm

Thank you for your review. It was fun to write. The three sample chipmunks I tried interviewing actually scurried away. So 99%, well 100% of this was imagined.

They are shy sometimes.

A fun post about chipmunks of various religions. We are all a little nutty about our own and not so nutty about the other guy's. It IS good to have a sense of humor about religion and politics. Marilyn
