Okay. This one made me want to cry :( Within a 2 year period, we had to put down my 16 year old cat (kidney cancer) and our 9 year old beagle mix (cushings disease). These precious animals were definitely members of the family.
This poem is one that many can relate to. I felt the author's emotions, as I slowly read each line. I enjoyed how the author expressed the special connection to the dog and the special qualities of the dog, making this an excellent 'Ode to Brody'.
Great choice of artwork; enjoyed the rhyme. Most importantly, my heart goes out to you.

It's always a huge wrench when a beloved animal companion goes home. Your lovely and loving ode is a fitting farewell to Brody. "paw prints in my heart" is a beautiful phrase.

Thank You for your kind comments. Brody was my Best Friend's Beloved Companion. But He used to come near the phone to listen whenever I would telephone.

What a beautiful, heartfelt poem. It's so warm, emotional that it made me cry. Your great word choice allowed me to feel your love, your pain, sorrow on every line. I too have had furry babies that have left prints in my heart that will be there forever. Great job.

Congratulations on such a beautiful piece. A wonderful tribute to a wonderful dog. They don't call dogs mans' best friend for no reason do they? It's just such a pity the canine lifespan is so short!
