Hi Sandra,

Good instalment once again. Eric has got quite a backbone on him, hasn't he? lol And with his very own protector he can get into all kinds of scrapes.

He clicked his big gun up again and pointed it at Eric.- clicked felt an odd choice here for raising a weapon.

and reached out for the reins dangling down. - you could just say dangling reins here.

Good stuff

He takes after his Gran, lol, so I have to make him brave and strong in his book. He loved the last book, and he told me he would read it to me soon, bless him. This new school he starts in September only have 7 pupils per class, so we have high hopes that he'll overcome the dyslexia. I've changed the dangling reins, and changed clicked to 'raised'. I was thinking of how the rifle is sort of in half when not being used and they click it together when they are going to shoot. Or something like that. :)) Thanks for the lovely comments, my friend and the input. :) Sandra xxx

What a cool installment...well, I didn't get to read the one about the dinosaours, but Eric certainly has his work cut out for him on this one!! ;) :) Great interactions from a man that just lost his daughter...he'll probably be 'more settled' once their headed out to save Ellie Mae [couldn't have gotten that name from the Beverly Hillbillies now could you 'ave? :) :) lol!] So, it's Eric, Herbie, and Gizmo to the rescue! ;) :) Looking forward to the next installment, ma'am!! ;) :)

Staring at the fearsome man who glared back at him, and the hostile set of his face as his eyes narrowed with suspicion, did nothing to lessen Eric's alarm. --> Staring at the fearsome man who glared back at him, did nothing to lessen Eric's alarm. The hostile set of his face as his eyes narrowed with suspicion was frightening. [or was scary]

    Hi, Yvette,
Thank you so much, 'cool' is what I'm looking for to please my grandson! I remember the Beverly Hillbillies, and loved it. This Ellie May is Eric's cousin in real life, they are both the same age and she is always the 'boss' when they do things. (aren't all women like that if they can get away with it?) I thought Eric would be pleased to be the hero and rescue her for a change. I'm not sure how Ellie will take it though, LOL! Thank you for your input, I've used half of it and changed another bit. It's so nice when my readers like to come into it. Thank you, my friend! :)) Sandra xx

I use UK English myself and won't be able to help you with the US way of speech. Apart from that, I enjoyed your story so far and was rather worried about the man with the gun. Turns out that even though they got their lost horse, they were wary of Eric. Can't blame them after all they had suffered.
Very good imagery. Hope your grandson is able to get around his problem at the new school.
Wishing you the best
Sylvia

Thank you so much, Sylvia, for your lovely review. Do you live in England? I'm just outside of Southampton.
Eric will be safe all the while he has Herbie and Gizmo with him, and they aren't going anywhere. I hope to see you for the next part. Thanks again! :)) Sandra xx

No, Sandra, I live partly in Sri Lanka and in Australia. I have two grandsons 4 and 10-year-olds in Canberra where I spend most of my time and then in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne with the rest of my family. I spend the winter months in Sri Lanka as Canberra gets quite cold and my husband finds it difficult to handle. Look forward to reading more.
    Blessings

So that's why you use UK English! lol. Of course. It's nice to get to know you. xx

Nice to know you too, Sandra. In Australia, it is slightly different. When Sri Lanka was called Ceylon and under British rule, UK English was the first language. Nowadays, it is the 3rd language.

Poor people, how confusing. It would be rather scary to see something from that far in the future. They didn't even have phones yet. =} This is a great story and enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next. Didn't see any errors at all. Rox

This is a wonderful chapter for this book. It is a wonderful book for a child. I like that you are writing it for your grandson. This would have been a great story for me to have read to my children, who are now grown. I look forward to reading the next chapter. It is a cute story.

I enjoyed your well-written chapter, Sandra. You take readers on an adventure with your descriptive, imagery, creating words. I felt as if I were there the whole time. The dialogue is an added bonus. I like the way Eric believes in himself even though he is scared. I like the way the farmer's wife is more reasonable than her husband. Of course, Herbie acts in a protective way, and he is a fun character. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thank you so much, Jan, for your really lovely thoughts on this part of Eric's story. It's so nice to have you along on the journey. I tended to see Annie the way most mothers act with children, they are far more understanding than the fathers. I'm really pleased you agree with me. Thank you, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Dear Sandra, does Eric realise just how much you love him? I'm sure he does!! Another great start to another book for him. How many children get a book that makes them the main character? You are in the A A Milne category. I wont finish by saying 'keep writing' - as if anything could stop you - LOL! Love Dorothy xx

It's funny you should ask me that, Dorothy. When we were talking a few weeks ago, I said to him, "Did you know you are my most favourite boy in the whole wide world?" and he laughed and replied. "Yes, Nanny, you get so emotional when you see me!" Lol!!
Thank you so much for the six stars, my friend, and the lovely comments. I'll try not to stop writing! How lovely to be put in the same paragraph as A A Milne! I would love his recognition but will be content with Eric's. :)) Thank you! Love Sandra xx

I like your story. The whole concept is very original.
I also like the dialogues.
In this sentence: 'can't ya see he's just a child!', I guess you need a question mark instead.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Maria, for spotting that, I've been and corrected it. It's lovely to know you like the story. Eric doesn't want to know what it's about until he gets his copy and we can sit down together and I help him to read it. I get such a thrill doing this for him, he really does get excited. Thanks, my friend. xxx

It must be great to be able to write a story for your grandson.

It's my greatest joy, Maria. I'm hoping one day he'll be able to read it to his children. That would be the icing on the cake. xx

Superb episode. Looks like Eric etal will have a real adventure and surely rescue the girl. How will they do it? That's up to you, the talented writer. All I know is it will be exciting and have a happy ending. :)

Of course there will be a happy ending ... for the Indians, after they have scalped poor Eric and taken Herbie to bits to find out how he works. But not to fret, they manage to put him back together again after they have sorted out his program to make them immortal! Lol!! Big hugs for the wonderful 6 stars, my lovely friend and the fabulous review. Sandra xxxx :))
