-Your notes are appreciated, jaybird.
-A well written poem about
this event that was supposed
to have us all shaking in our shoes.
-I like your line about finding the cave!
-The conclusion is a good one, too,
I think we did survive the date pretty well.
-Thanks for sharing.

This is a blast from the past. Yes, the change of millennium was supposed to kill all computers and cause a lot of problems. You would have made a lot of money if you took those odds.

Hi Jaybird. This poem surely reflects what people were thinking back in 1999. Many people thought the world would stop and nothing would work anymore. Y2K turned out to be something much less than was anticipated. Robert

Your poem really captured those feelings of apocalypse about that event. Seems so funny now. All the images of the four horsemen, the guns, the Armageddon, all worked to create that feeling of hysteria. I liked the part about taking odds, making bets about what was going to happen. It gives us a feeling that we're taking a chance on life here. or life is taking a chance on us. I remember all the store managers in the supermarket chain had to work overnight that New Year's Eve, along with all the file clerks, to make sure all the computers wouldn't lose their data as the dates read 00. estory

We are still as superstitious nowadays as people were in the year 1000. But fortunately nothing happen with the arrival of the millennium.
Thanks for sharing another great poem.

Nineteen years later, and we're still here. I remember there was a great fear about the year Y 2 K. Now people are trying to scare us by telling us we have only 12 years before the effects of climate change kick in and destroy the planet. Maybe the doomsayers will be proven wrong again. Ready, steady, and prepare is always a good motto. Excellent rhyme. judi

I enjoyed your poem. It looks like the world was going to end. Kind of like Chicken Little who thought the sky was falling. You say this was written in 1999. Well I guess we made it since it's now 2019!

Hi Jaybird
I well remember all the fuss about the coming Apocalypse nonsense. I think I staggered home in the new year 2000 from the village watering hole, laughing about all the predictions.
I enjoyed your poem, Millennium 2000. Your casual and direct writing style suited your tongue-in-cheek references to finding a cave, and your rhyming pattern was excellent. My only criticism is that pestilence is spelled incorrectly.
Keep posting! Your work is very interesting.

State of mind, feeling, and living at the millennium 2000, all were after the cave Y2K, question was to survive the fearful date, bringing pestilence and fear, death like any other year; well said, well done. Liked and enjoyed the read. Write-Inspire --DR ALCREATOR

A very well-written poem about the millenium2000 that had us all in a flat-spin and we all prepared for doomsday, most of us are still here but no one knows for how long still. The only thing we really can do is to be prepared each day and live it as our last.
