This is so well-written and reflective of the mindset of that time. How well I remember the unease and how it grew as it spread. I especially like the presence of dry humor! :-)

Funny to read now, nearly 20 yeas later. The fear was real among some in my area. My husband is an electrical contractor and sold a lot of generators that fall!
In stanza 2, maybe use a period after "famine" since the next idea is new. Just a thought.
Did you bet anyone about Y2K?

Your poem offers a lot of wisdom and common sense. I remember how panicked people were approaching Y2K and then it completely fizzled. The computer wizards figured everything out and fixed it. As a person of strong faith, however, I'm not complacent about the future, but I also do not waste a lot of time in worrying about it. (I did hear something of concern on the radio today, however--it it was that people in Sweden are now having tiny microchips embedded in their hands to provide instant payment for what would usually be charge card transactions, and to have instant access to locked office doors at their jobs, etc. The Book of Revelation foretells this and I take it seriously. I will never allow that chip to be implanted in my hand...or beneath the skin of my forehead!)

It doesn't seem that long ago we were all waiting for the big crash, yet here we are, still at it. How long it will last, no one really knows. I enjoyed your poem, it captured all the fears of the big change over from 1999 to 2000. So, what next? What else can we say will bring about the Armageddon? Well done, your poem was very well written and a pleasure to read. (more so that we are still here to read it!!) Sandra xxx

Perfection in the rhyme, rhythm and beat! You also captured the fear and chaos that everyone thought would ensue with the new millennium and you did so in an outstanding poetical fashion. We all got through it, but you surely produced a piece that conveyed the tension! Great job!

Anyone looking for a certain date or event is missing an important clue. The scriptures clearly indicate that the end will come after a buildup of events that become increasingly difficult to withstand. Unreasonable prices, increasing lawlessness, deceit and a general lack of caring among humans, and the biggie, leaders grossly corrupt and unfit for leadership. However, even after observing all these things, the actual end will be a surprise, largely because, most are not paying attention and will not be aware when it comes. Duck!

Well done, my friend. I like the reflection on that 1999 flip to 2000. I remember all of the hub bub and scrutiny by the naysayers of our time. I knew they would be wrong, but alas...who cared then or now. Bless you, Jay. Bob

Good morning Jaybird1 you poetic sage. You were very right we survived 1999, but what about 2019? I remember New Year's eve 1999, just as the ball was a bout to drop my TV went off and the lights flickered, I thought it was the end, never figured out what that was or why it happened. Every year seems to be the last, 'til it isn't. Great Job my friend.

Yep! Quite a lot of hoopla and panic over something that turned out to be nothing in the end. You express the pandemonium well in this delightful piece. Nicely done and thank you very much for sharing it.

If i had a six star rating left this poem would have earned it. It reminded me of my wife wanting to stockpile supplies and buy z generator for Y2k. I told her all we had to do was buy a bunch of bullets. With bullets we can get all that stuff. She didn't think I was funny. Your poem rhymed, makes sense, and entertained me. Nice job.
