Who was the ghost in this delightful story, was it the elder Thomas or the young man she had to apologise to who was on the middle of the road? One of them had to be.
The other two girls that worked Craig House always stared at her oddly and giggled when she asked them about Thomas. There's only three of us assigned to this house, Cheryl!
So Thomas was the Ghost.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly with the correct word count and delivery of a complete and engaging story. Loved the way you approached this as the use of the historical site as the setting played nicely into the development of Thomas' character.
