Good Morning Mrs. Allen. Another fine piece of work from you. Good Job. If someone remembered that much about me from so long ago it would make me feel special too. However I'm from a place where most of the time it's better to severe connections than too preserve them.

This was worthy of six stars. The way you described it I wish I was a graduate there and lived there now. An excellent entry into the. Good luck in the contest.

Even three years later, I appreciate these words very much.

It sounds like a wonderful place to live, and the town was blessed with a great teacher. I don't think there are many anywhere who could name all their students from years ago. Good luck in the contest.

Rachelle:
I knew I was going to enjoy these vignettes of yours. As an educator
of 47 years, I totally understand the gift that teacher gave to your
husband's graduating class. I believe the best gift a teacher can give
to a student of any age is the gift that the student is important to
that teacher - far more important than anything else that teacher
will teach that child. In fact, one of my favorite school comments is
"No one cares how much you know until they know how much you
care."
Thanks for sharing.

Such a beautiful and touching memory you have! It's so refreshing to read your stories. They always so full of life lived to the fullest. It is amazing to know there is still a place where even the descendants still live. Very rare these days. Thank you for sharing xoxoxo

Hi Rachelle! Nice to hear from you. I also have been away from site about that long. So much going on and time to write has eluded me. I am hoping to move from Indiana to Mississippi next late spring. My daughter and son in law bought a 3 bedroom home on 31 acres. We are putting up a tiny home for me on the property and my days of working will be over. I plan to get back into writing then when life will be a bit less time consuming than it has been. I hope you are well and hope to connect back with you then! Sending love, hugs and prayers😘❤️

I usually review poetry, but I'm so glad I came across your true story. I fear that the feeling of nostalgia is being lost in the United States because we are so mobile. Moving over and over for school, employment, life changes take a way the sense of belonging and place that create nostalgia. Thank you for the reminder that it still does exist in some places.

A very well-written story about the reunion that was missed by a week, but the attendants filled you in on the events and the perfect teacher that still remembers every child he taught over all the years of teaching.

Hi Rachelle,
This story nearly made me cry. I didn't have any teachers that gave a tinkers dam about me. I was invisible in classrooms. I envy your husband for being in a close knit and caring community. I love how you describe school as, "hallowed halls of learning". As I witnessed my own kids and now grandkids in their school experiences, I believe the teaching profession has improved for the better. This old bird missed the boat for education, but I am surviving.
Interesting story to read. I don't relate, but I'm happy for you and your hubs.
Best wishes in the contest.

This is simply beautiful altho I'm sorry the emcee didn't make it (for his sake) this kind of remembrance is so rare and precious. What a blessing to all those graduates. And you live there now?
