We had chick days at my old job. It's where you can order chicks at our store and the pick them up a couple months later. I always loved coming and hearing those little chirps. Have fun with them

Interesting take on the tanka form, but as far as I know--humor isn't included in a tanka. I guess the right form to include that will be kyoka. I can't recall the name exactly though. Japanese forms are one of my favourites. Coming back to the poem, I really enjoyed the humor you have presented here. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your thoughtful review Anupam. Of course you are right. It is a kyota but I thought it fit under the umbrella of "tanka" since it has the same format as a tanka. I'm sure the "committee" will let me know if that works.
