I think you absolutely did the right thing in using this picture. I am still moved to tears when I think of the horrible suffering, when I think of Jesus, the man (all to intercede for us, for our sins) going through what He did.

But He was resurrected, and in that and our redemption is incomparable joy. What a beautiful poem, Linda.

Hi, Linda. This is a very moving poem e ven though it be so small in text. It tells much of the story. The story of his crucifiction is so very hurtful especially when we realize why he allowed it to happen. Bod bless you my friend.XX Bob

Excellent. Your poem and picture paint a powerful message about our Lords final words. This is understandable and very sorrowful. You have done a fine job with this.

A very moving write about the last hours of our Saviour. He was abused and degraded for our sins. But he accepted his fate with courage and peace.

But his work was not complete and never will be. Interesting to note that you refer to the drink given to complete his humiliation as sour wine. We were always told that he was given vinegar. Not that is much difference.
hugs

Hi Freda, so good to see you my sweet friend...in our bible study class...in John: it states the there was a jar of sour wine...but I believe I have heard that it was sour vinegar as well...but as you said...not that it makes much difference...He died for us...and still loves us no matter what...thank you for a wonderful review...and big hugs to you...love Linda xxoo

Hello Linda: Thank you, my dear, for reminding us about the sacrifice that Jesus and His almighty Father made for us long ago. It doesn't have to be Christmas or Easter to thank Him for what He did for us as you have done here with your strong words. It is the truth and it should be told more often and not just on holidays.

I have missed talking to you very much. We are getting rain from the hurricane today so I am inside all day for the first time in several weeks.

I hope you and your family are doing well. Get ready for a big heatwave coming through over the weekend.

Take care of yourself my old friend and drop me a line when you can...I really liked your poem...I'm sure it got a lot of readers attention...See ya...Bill

Wine is indeed sour, even the sweet ones have a lingering sour taste. I agree with the message of the poem, but I really am intrigued by the picture.
As always, thank you for sharing!

Was the sour wine gifted on a spear-pierced sponce by a Roman soldier an example of of kindnes or the final taunt of a bully? we will never know for cerain. I have heard well-intentioned clergymen offer both those arguments.

It was the final contribution of humanity to the dying Christ whose work was finished so the theme of 'finished' is maintained in this 5-7-5.

Hi Linda,

Wonderful tribute for Jesus. Excellent word economy as you have utilised each syllable so well. As you say, we must be grateful to Him for all he has done for us. Good luck in the contest.

Regards,
Anupam
