Very sweet. you take your time but ultimately reveal yourself as the cool mom / cold criminal that you really are. I'm sure I had a set of those handcuffs when I was a boy, but I doubt that my mom would ever have let me use them on her. (Having grown up with two older sisters, I'm also pretty sure I had a "No Girls Allowed" sign on my bedroom door.

Your story, in addition to being interesting in itself, captures that feeling of pretend play from days gone by. Wonderful - good luck in the contest.

Hilarious as usual Sally. I couldn't stop laughing at the trainee needing a potty break. That and the help with reading you your rights.

Oh, I really liked this. For a while you had me going there. I even checked the category, and yes, it said General Non-Fiction. I was dismayed: Sally a shoplifter? Surely not.

Then I got to the twist :)

I picked up on just one spag:

It was a Friday in the late 1980's as I recall. -- Spag? Everyone seems to do this, but The Chicago Manual of Style advises it's 1980s without the apostrophe.
