I was so captivated by this story! And because I so quickly gave away all my sixes last night, I woke to find they were all handed out. I unfortunately must give a five, but it certainly deserves a six. I love non-fiction and the way you have written this story. It was intriguing as well as humorous the two magic combinations. Also, I loved Chips and we played it in the sandbox at school! You had me visualizing all the important moments here with ease! Cheers, Fonda

You are so kind and gracious. Thank you for the five stars and virtual six. It means so much and greatly appreciated, dear Fonda. I suspected I was old enough to be your mother and now I know it?s true. LOL!
Sending you my best today and so glad to see your name along with a review. :+))

What a great memory! My boys were more about trains when they were little, so I got in on a lot of train-track building. Your story flowed well and kept my attention from start to finish. Well done!

I think those boys did an excellent job apprehending that hardened criminal! LOL! This was a most fun read. Well-done! (I bet 9-1-1 does get calls to get out of predicaments like this!)

What a wonderful story. I love writing about parents and their kiddos, and yours was especially well written.
There is a very minor point. In paragraph two you write "I looked to the left, then to right;" I think it should read then to THE RIGHT.
I also used to watch CHIPS!

Thank you so much, rockmann. Your review and kind compliments mean so much. I fixed my ?to the right.? It?s funny, I read that over and over and listened to the audio, and it didn?t pick it up. I am near blind and use voice-over text combined with (jumbo) type print. I missed that on both fronts. :+( Thank you for the helpful critique, too. I need your good eyes. :+) Fanning you now.

A very well-written humorous non-fiction story. Those were the days the children play more than they watched television and was even scared to answer the home phone when it starts to ring.

This is a good entry for the contest--well-written and an enjoyable twist in the middle. I really liked the potty break line, and I bet they enjoyed putting you in the time-out chair. Well done.

AaaaaaaaaaHAHAHAHAHA!!! What an adorable story, and flawless. I loved every precious word, and could so easily picture these children and their 'Mommy', the hardened criminal. :))

Best of luck in the contest with this charmer.

Lol. How wonderful that you played with your boys this make-believe crime story with the boys as police officers! I would think that the handcuffs would have hurt as I'm sure they were kid sized! Fun story and best to you in the contest!

Sally your story took me back to when our boys ( we have three) were young and what great fun they had. Camping during the school holidays was an activity they always looked forward to. It was also an opportunity to invite their classmates to join.
Nice story for the contest.
Best wishes
Sylvia

Ah yes! The days of Chips! And I hope you kept those ball cards! I know I did, but my boys now have them safely kept away from me! This piece brought back memories for me! Well written and quite hilarious! Great job and in my personal opinion, a winner!
