I simply love this. What's funny is that while I was reading my daughter stuck her head in my door and said "I'm going to the dollar store. I have given up on trying to figure out why people do and say stupid stuff.

I like what Maxine, the Senior citizen cartoon character says: "I've stopped saying 'How stupid can you be?' because people are taking it as a challenge."
The timing of your daughter's announcement was classic stuff. (Did you share with her what could possibly be awaiting her there?)

I love it!!! As a joke, I too asked a pretty cashier "How much is this" at a dollar store. I think she must have know it was a come on and she looked at me like...Really? A funny story and memory.

"if I'm honest, I think it may have hung there in parentheses" - what a fantastic line! I think I must hang a lot of phrases in parentheses when I'm in line behind certain types at the grocery store...but I digress.

This one should amuse you. Hubby went to see doctor last Friday with a chest infection. She put the stethoscope on his chest he began to breathe in and out deeply as per routine. The doctor (a locum) got quite annoyed with him. "will you stop doing that," she said. "You are making a noise."

It's called dollar stores blues! Most often it is not a dollar and it can cost even more. It is just a gimmick to get more sales. She told you that sometimes they are two for a dollar making you believe you are getting a bargain. Good job.
