What a beautiful poem. Very well-written and your great word choice allows the reader to feel the pain, loneliness the heartache of their love not being there. Your artwork is beautiful, perfect for the poem.

This is beautifully penned. You express the feeling that loneliness of separation evokes in us - funny how it always seems to be strongest in the wee hours of the morning. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Thank you for sharing your reflections about the loneliness that can be experienced by partners. I admired your speaking in the first person for more immediacy and the title and artwork that established the mood well. Sighs- Joan

I can relate to all the desires from the human spirit when one is by themselves. I like how you describe sound, touch and warmth when the love of your life is not at that moment with you. A humble expression of loneliness written so well.

I enjoyed your poem, Brenda. Its presentation is super--love the picture, the formatting of your lines, and the message. It is easy for readers to understand the longing separation for whatever reason brings to a partner. Good job and thanks for sharing. I believe many will identify with your well-chosen and heart-felt words. Jan

A couple of years ago, my husband needed to be in Florida for a just over a month (we live in NY) to attend to a personal issue. The moment I put our then 11-year-old daughter to bed, and was faced with going into our large empty bed all by myself, was The Lonely Hour for me. You expressed that feeling beautifully, listing the things that those of us left behind miss most. I'm lucky my separation was just six weeks. I have no idea how military spouses handle the extended separation.
This is a very sweet and poignant poem, relatable to anyone who's ever been in love.
