A very thoughtful write Brenda, not being one to feel this loneliness , your words hit me as I imagined this longing.
You put over these feelings excellently .
Kind regards Colin

Such a lovely offering that states what many partners feel when they are separated... some really well-chosen words and phrases here! ;) ;) I would only suggest, perhaps, not using such heavy 'end punctuation'...in fact, with your spacing format you've employed, you could probably eliminate it altogether to give the offering a much smoother feel from one line to the next. ;) :) Your free verse truly reaches into the reader and pulls out the emotions that allow them to connect with your 'Lonely Hour'... :) Thanx for sharing! :)

I know this feeling very well being a widower for over 16 years now.
separation just makes it worse but hopefully we can feed from that and realize it is just a matter of time.
Well presented.

Hi Brenda,
I'm so glad you invited me to look at your work. Your longing is so powerful, so all-consuming I could feel it. That - to me - is the essence of a fine poem. I want to be moved. I want to move others. You succeeded in that and for that - and your willingness to put yourself out there with this personal work - you deserve six stars.

You've hit upon all the basic elements of loneliness- emotions and feelings are the basics but the most uncontrollable and ever present demon is TIME. - Lobber

That would be one or the hardest parts of losing a mate. As we grow older and we count on each other being there - the thought of the vacancy in our lives sometimes overcomes.
Good poem.

Separation from loved ones is painful indeed. And at night the loneliness is especially piercing. In the quietness we reflect on all that we miss. And the morning sun seems to take extra long to make its appearance. You've captured sentiments perfectly.

A very well-written poem about the lonely hour when we realize how hopelessly lonely we are when our spouse or partner cannot be with us in these times we need them the most.
