Truthfully, the only lyrics I saw incorporated into the poem were from the Rascals Groovin. The poem itself was interesting and I liked it. The picture was kind of funky, why'd you choose it to accompany the poem?

    Earl,

The original idea had the rocks/pebbles rolling down the river bed. I found an illustration for those stones, but then my poem morphed into another idea. As such, I stuck with the funky pic (-:

The shortness of my verse style didn't allow for all those lyrics. LOL

Yeah, there shall be no Mick in my head ever... LOL! :) :) A fun 'musical' offering for the day, Mark, although my brain is really struggling with aft'noon.. :) :) ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) ;) Yvette

Needed to rigidly comply with my five syllable count for that first line. My guess is some Brits might say it the same way. LOL

I know (and love) all the songs quoted which probably gives my age away - but I think I've done that before anyway. We have very few pebble beaches here - mostly very sandy ones.

I prefer the sand to pebbles or stones, especially walking barefoot. The illustration was meant for the first iteration of my posting. Methinks this final one is much better. LOL

    The 1960-1970s were terrific!

This 5-7-5, Rolling on the River, has the right set up and crams a lot of songs and moods from those songs into this very tight spot. Caught in here one might have to twist and shout to get out.

Twist and Shout and other Beatle classics might have made my song hit list, but I wanted the 'tw'' alliteration sound LOL

    Thanks for you review.

Great poem. I like this version much better than the draft that you sent me and a very good and appropriate illustration. Where did this picture come from?

The picture is from FanArt. I happily morphed my original version, but I had found the illustration to accompany it. It was eye catching so I kept it. Pleased the revision was a better choice for you.

You have made excellent use of all your syllables by including numerous
references to popular songs and artists. This one resonates with me because I have listened to and danced to the radio for--well, many years!

A very well-written thought out 5-7-5 poem using parts of song titles or lyrics top bring a message to the reader of good times of great music we enjoyed with rock n roll.

I enjoyed your 575, Mark. Great job telling your story in so few syllables. The art is a great choice, too. Wow, imagine life without rock and roll. No, I can't. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Yep, the Rolling Stones are another of my favorites. My original thought processes had pebbles rolling along the river bed which made me find the illustration. After morphing my idea, I kept the (selected FanArt) illustration.
