This is a very thought-provoking, descriptive piece. I'm impressed by the way the increasingly vivid, specific details paint the picture of a desperate outlaw--based on appearance--who turns out to be the new preacher! :-)

This is excellent writing. Goes to show for sure you can't judge a book by its cover. Nice rhyming scheme. I really like this especially the ending. I'm the new preacher his name his Burch . Can anyone point me in the direction of the church. Awesome.

Hello Willie, this is an extremely well written poem in rhyming couplets that tells a good story. I must admit I was not expecting the ending - but as you say "You can't tell a book by it's cover". Hah! I love that sharp right turn at the end... You brought me down stony path and who knew it would turn into primroses? Great little couplets that work so well as I could imagine each patron's eyes falling on this "murderer" and forming the entirely wrong impression! My kind of poem!--Karenina

You surprised me with the ending. I enjoyed your poem, it reads like a mini movie. It is true, one never knows about an individual, we must not judge people. I like how people thought this individual was a killer and he is a preacher. Excellent two line verses with a smooth flow of rhyming words.
