Hahaha, I liked this poem with a story within. I loved it and especially the surprise ending. What a gem. it's well written and with great imagery and I never knew what was to come. Well done. Ulla:)))

This is a very thought-provoking, descriptive piece. I'm impressed by the way the increasingly vivid, specific details paint the picture of a desperate outlaw--based on appearance--who turns out to be the new preacher! :-)

This is excellent writing. Goes to show for sure you can't judge a book by its cover. Nice rhyming scheme. I really like this especially the ending. I'm the new preacher his name his Burch . Can anyone point me in the direction of the church. Awesome.

Hello Willie, this is an extremely well written poem in rhyming couplets that tells a good story. I must admit I was not expecting the ending - but as you say "You can't tell a book by it's cover". Good example in your story. Good, and very appropriate picture to accompany - well done. Regards Dorothy x

Hello, Willie,

I like your poem about reverend Bush. He looked like a bum but was a preacher. I agree with you, you can't tell a book by its cover.

nicely done. builds tension up to the surprise ending. like this line the best The look of pain and death on his face. was expecting that this guy would be a gunslinger in the old west. instead he is the new preacher. nice twist at the end

Hah! I love that sharp right turn at the end... You brought me down stony path and who knew it would turn into primroses? Great little couplets that work so well as I could imagine each patron's eyes falling on this "murderer" and forming the entirely wrong impression! My kind of poem!--Karenina

You surprised me with the ending. I enjoyed your poem, it reads like a mini movie. It is true, one never knows about an individual, we must not judge people. I like how people thought this individual was a killer and he is a preacher. Excellent two line verses with a smooth flow of rhyming words.

Oh, my God? Who could have thought that this dirty looking man, who people took for a killer, would be the new priest? Still need to shower, though (lol).

Excellent imagery and rhymes. Great visuals.

I thorough enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.

This was funny:

He was weeks past a shave, with long, dirty hair.
He smelled like a wet horse but didn't seem to care,

lol. You are right - can't judge a book by its cover, though.
