Nice attempt to capture the waltz rhythm with three-syllable lines. I am no dancer, but I suspect the actual rhythm is hard to replicate in a poem.

A sweet piece that not only sticks to the theme of dancing, but also reflects love between the partners in the dance.

Good luck.

Steve

Well, actually, I AM a dancer...and a musician, too, and I promise that this is the exact rhythm of a waltz.

Thank you for this super nice review, Steve. I appreciate it.

How many of us find "the right one" which with whom we'd dance for the rest of our lives? If you've truly found this person, you are indeed lucky. I wish you the best.

This meets the contest requirements splendidly with a wonderfully vivid interpretation of dancing. Your piece I vibrant and fun which evokes images of lively and spirited dances just as life is filled with lively and spirited moments. Good luck in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

You did a great job with your contest entry, Rachelle. I enjoyed reading it. Your lines flow smoothly with good rhymes. Your words create great imagery. The picture choice is a great pairing, too. Love you notes. Good job and best wishes. Jan

    You're welcome!
I wrote a similar styled poem a few years ago called Dance With Me and that has the 3/4 beat too...I just dug it out of my portfolio to share with you!

    One
    two three,
    one
    two three,
    feel the beat,
    dance with me,
    Baby --

    Dance with me
    seduc-tive-ly
    move with me,
    Baby --

    One
    two three,
    feel the beat,
    feel the heat,
    one two,
    oh!

    ;) x

This is a simple and happy love poem. It describes how love takes away some fears and makes life easier. The speakers believes this is everlasting love. Life is a dance and one is almost always happy when dancing.
Good luck and keep writing
Joan

It is indeed and every now and again you can take that dance onto a dance floor and one two three, cut a rug or just plain dance your asses off and rock the night away. Life is always Better when your sharing it with The Right One : ))

Good verse. Take the prompt to love and marriage. I picture this as modern dance as portrayed in the photo. The closest I ever came to dancing barefoot was the sock hop in high school.

Oh, that's more than close enough, Rikki!! I'm imagining a room full of teenage feet, and it's not appealing.

Thank you for the review. xo

It is a shame the sock hop went with the early sixties.

Yes, it should be a non-ending tradition.

Well happy Friday Ms. Allen. I enjoyed your dance poem. The flow and rhymes were good as they mostly are when it comes to your work. It you can dance like you write, then that's probably something I need to see. Taking anymore students? Scratch that.....brain just reminded me of my two left feet situation. lol have a great weekend.

But, 13th poet, there's nothing I love more than a challenge!! And I have never met anyone who couldn't make his body move more easily. Dancing is really just confidence and the willingness to be temporarily uninhibited. Come to Upstate New York. I'll send you home a DANCER!!

Thank you for this really wonderful review. xo

Don't tempt me. I'm originally from NJ and I'm there quite often. I know how to move my body quite well, my feet on the other hand have enough trouble walking straight. I'm like Fred Astaire from the waste up. LMAO.

Another beautiful example of a poem your musical background seems to have influenced! This is lyrical and romantic all at the same time. I felt as though I should be waltzing as I read it. Best wishes in the contest!

You totally get it, Carla. It was intended to be a waltz because I wrote it in three syllables per line. Thank you for noticing!! And thank you for the lovely review. xo
