You have made excellent use of all your syllables in this uplifting piece. We all must have at least one special place, even if it's only in our mind
or the porch swing!

I also like to pick up my spirit when I'm feeling low. There was a time when I went to the back of the house and smell the roses and then lit a joint. :) High there Melissa. Now I lock myself in my room take my meds, wrestle with my emotions, and relax. :) Thank you for sharing.

What you so is so true. I think we all have a special place we can go to get a fresh perspective. It's needed when you're feeling low and maybe overwhelmed by life's problems. Happy place not to be confused with Happy Hour, although that's the cure-all for some. Lovely artwork. I believe that bird has found its happy place! judi

You're very welcome. What would cheer me up is for people to read what I've posted. I don't think what I've done is that bad, but it's not getting reviews. judi

I think we all need a happy place where we can go to recharge. Your poem is well-written, interesting and your artwork is gorgeous. It shows us just how beautiful nature can be. Great job.

Just seeing the giant sunflower put a smile on my face! I am glad you have a special "happy place" to find a "new perspective". The Bunting was a lovely bonus for your 5-7-7 senryu. Cheers- Joan

Great idea. I love sunflowers. They are my favorite, a bouquet of yellow sunflower, white daisies and red roses, just like a Susan Winget picture. =} Well done as always. Rox

Well, that certainly is one way to deal with it. A change of scenery is always good for the soul and a great way to get a new perspective. And we all have our secret gardens where we can be ourselves and relax. Cute illustration for this senryu.

The senryu, like the haiku, is normally restricted to a 17 syllable syllable total. Also like much Japanese shortform poems it is pared to the minimum. The theme here is great and the picture gorgeous. What about this:

when feeling low
move to happy place
for new perspectives

Fourteen syllables! Now if you decide you want to put yourself back in the picture, you have three syllables vacant, and you really only need one:

when feeling low
move to happy place
for new perspectives

also please note that, like the haiky again there is no punctuation or capital letters (except for proper nouns).

Thanks Jim. I had not planned to have one sentence rambling through, but it seemed to just sneak its way onto the page. LOL. I remembered later that the Japanese style is choppier with dramatic impactive lines. Thanks for the reminder and great review. On a lighter note, I hope your puppies are doing well and their momma too. Good luck with them.

Pups are fine and Mum is recovering slowly. She is an old lady in doggy terms, and it was a traumatic birthing, but she has her milk back now so I am off bottle duty thank goodness.
