I love bright colours and I love sunflowers .
There is a whole row on display in a garden where I walk.
They are bright coloured like the sun and just looking at them makes me smile and fills my heart with joy.
And that beautiful blue feathered bird perched on the sunflower gives weight to your conclusive statement :
" ... I get a new perspective "
birds having the luck to be able to fly definitely get a different perspective of matters.

I presume this is a simple truth you have found works for you. I think it is also great advice. Coincidentally, the poem I chose to include first in my (only, so far) book is about my happy place (one I imagined for it, not one I regularly visit lol).
I'm rambling, so I will just say I enjoyed very much, well done.

This is excellent, Melissa. I firmly believe that we are responsible for our own happiness. You've delivered an upbeat truism in your poem. Image to accompany is perfect for your theme. Marilyn

Thank you Marilyn. I always feel like going to my happy place is the first step in getting over something, or dealing with a problem. I appreciate the review.

Agreed. We all need a happy place.

It seems your happy place is in a garden or among nature. Such bright colors in the flower and the bird. I think this is the best place to gain
perspective.

That's great advice. And it seems the little bird in the picture is doing just that.
It's the first time I see an indigo bunting. He's gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing.

Melissa, first off - the picture is fantastic. Nature and all its beauty captured right there. This is a poem that offers some good advice. A happy place is important to get back an even keel. Well done on this enjoyable read. ~DD

Comment from Gloria ....
Sunflowers most definitely do have that effect until they get to be 10 feet tall and it's hard to look into their bright shiny faces.
A most uplifting senryu, Melissa. A change of perspective can make all the difference in the world.

That bird is GORGEOUS.
Wish we had those here.
I love this senryu. I go to my
'happy place' too, my kitchen table.
My kitchen always 'centers me.'
Loved this,
Blessings...

Hello Judy. We do have Indigo Buntings in Virginia. We are on their migratory path. Hope you get to see one. Thanks for the review... glad you liked it.

Wow...I wish they'd migrate my way...I put out birdfood, keep my birdbath filled, I've been here 35 years and have never seen one!

Your did a great job, Melissa, with your senryu. I enjoyed reading it. Your syllables & topic are correct for tis style. I believe nature has a calming, relaxing way about it that can help soothe troubles. Thanks for sharing. I like the image included, too. Jan
