Your well-written poem is very comical on one level--somewhat thought-
provoking on another. Gazing at the sky and thinking of sun and moon can engender some interesting thoughts.

Thanks. Yes, star gazing does seem to wake up the muse.

Settle thou thoughts, because of time we cannot invent. The beautiful sky creates a canvass of wonder and a full net. Let us ponder in the shadows of death and know the ever endless protection of this atmospheric net.

Thanks for the review. Did you write that or is it a quote?

And do they joke about the world they see down here - where there is often chaos and folks running here and there without much meaning in their life - and are they also parts of God's family - those who have believed in and received forgiveness through the death of the Son of God?

If God created the universe they must be. I hadn't thought about it. In the poem they're wondering what we're like. They don't know for sure if life could even exist on a world that's mostly sea. Thanks for the review.

In my opinion, a really delightful write in smooth and even rhyming movement - clever and articulate in its humorous verse and startling, perfect image to complement the poem, which is fully compliant with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest to this writer...

Thanks for the six! Did you ever watch Ancient Aliens? Some people think they've been watching us all along. That thought is kind of creepy.

Dear Author,
Both your contest entry for Poetry and your selected picture were a fun entry to read. I noticed how important the word "world" was to your poem and found it interesting.
I wish your the best in this contest.

Good poem I think but, for me, lacking...something. Not sure exactly what. Maybe a touch of reality -- like what sort of creatures could actually live on Venus? Or how does the astrophysical reality of the place change the Venus, Aphrodite of ancient myth -- or does it? Can we live with two radically different ideas of the place in our minds?

Thanks though, enjoyed it.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. This was mostly just for fun. It's unlikely anything can live on Venus. Wasn't the Aphrodite of myth one of the daughter of Zeus living on Mount Olympus? Tho the planets were named for the gods, I don't think the myth had them living there.

I like your poem, although it appears to indicate you're not familiar with the real Venus. Venus is SO close to the sun that moisture can't exist there, let alone comprise mostly sea. Then, of course, that's no reason not to encourage your imagination to take your creative thinking wherever you want it to go. It's clear YOU had fun with it.

Thanks. I think you missed a line. I've got them looking back at us and wondering about creatures that could live in a world that's mostly sea. Yes, I did have fun with it.

You are absolutely right! I did misread that line. (You might want to consider exchanging the 3 syllables, "that could live" for "living in.")
