This is not fair to your lovely poem, but I have to tell you why I will remember it. I read your first line, and I said. "what's a brooch?" Does she mean 'broach?' So I had to look up brooch, only to discover that what I always thought was a broach is a brooch. I wear brooches all the time and have never seen the word. I am so impressed that you knew the correct usage.
Your poem is good. That does look like a brooch. You might include a couple of sentences in your notes explaining how millions of butterflies travel thousands of miles a year to winter on a few trees. Some people might not know how big that en masse really is.

This is a very well executed 5-7-5 with correct line and syllable count. Your word choices create a vivid picture in the reader's mind. I have a question about the word "broches" - did you mean 'brooches' like an ornate pin? Tat's what came to mind for me when looking at the picture.
