This is very cute. Squirrels are fun to watch. I feed them every day off my deck, along with the birds. I'd better be prompt with the food, too. They don't like waiting. Little buggers. Most animals DO like peanut butter. Marilyn

That little rodent acted like he belonged inside....he would hop off the recliner arm and follow Mom to the kitchen and then come back with her and hop back up on the recliner with Dad! Thanx for the review!

Lo! Rescued squirrel -

eats P-B and likes T-V

world's nuttiest pet

I guess that hanging around the humans messed up this squirrel's mind.

I live in the far out rural route and have known several people who caught squirrels young enough to tame. And crows. A buck. A coon. I can't actually touch my trademark possum yet, but he ignores me as he eats. Excellent pet poem 5/7/5.

Was raised in rural Louisiana -- I had a pair of twin coons for a week that I picked up from the side of the road off their dead mom who'd been hit and killed. Kept 'em for a couple of weeks until I found someone who could give them a better home (they actually had a pet coon they'd had for a few years!). And my next door neighbor had a pet deer (brought the fawn home from a squirrel-hunt!). Think what made the squirrel so funny was that it was after they had actually been in the city (and another state) for a while - LOL! Thanx for the review, LlJ!

A very well-written 5-7-5 about the rescued squirrel pet that seems to love to eat peanut butter and watchint TV with dad. A real nutty and not picky pet, peanut butter seems to make him happy.

This would make a great true story or flash fiction story. Your notes really pulled the story together and helped the poem make sense. Good luck in the contest.

LOL! Yeah, insane as it is, that freaking thing used to sit on that recliner handle and just enjoy! It would get quite excited at some of the more 'colorful' and 'active' commercials... darnedest thing ever!! Thank you for your review!

I was glad of your author note to explain P-B, but I might have guessed it from your last line. Frisky is a good name for a squirrel. I guess your dad Han to keep a wary eye out for those rodent teeth!

Was the most tame squirrel you've ever seen! Just sat there and let Dad pet it!! Crazy!! Thanks for the review!

Hello mystery writer: I like your poem a lot. I'm also a fan of the video. Combining the video with the 5-7-5 is artful. Frisky is a great name for a squirrel. The dozen or so that live on my deck are nameless. Good poem. -Robert-

That would be a hoot. To make it really exciting, I would have Ralph, My Russel Terrier, on the other arm. LOL

What an awesome entry. And, what an awesome pet. I can't believe that it watched tv with your dad and ate peanut butter. That's the cutest thing that I ever heard.
Good luck in the contest. You could easily win it.
