Thank you for reminding us about the value of life and the presence of others in our lives. I also appreciated the packages of "grace" and "mercy" in the picture you added. Smiles- Joan

Thank you for the review. Have a wonderful week.

A very wel-written reminder that we should never give or throw away gifts we received from anyone away because we think it means nothing to us. We hurt the person who gives the gift very badly and we might just need that gift one or other time.

Too true. We too often do not cherish the gifts we are given, whether friend, parent or child. We need to be thankful always for them. One day we will be so sorry if we do not. Rox

Hi Patricia, you should always write what's in your heart to write. That being said, I was totally thrown by that third line. I felt it came out of nowhere. In the first stanza, I'm thinking about the Ugly Christmas sweater that you got from a cousin maybe, by the next one I was thinking about maybe things your kids had made you while they were growing up. (things I would definitely miss!) So that third stanza hit me right out of the blue. BAM! Right up-side the head.
I can't tell you how steamed it makes me when I hear about people who are waiting for the elder members of their families to pass away so they can get at the leftovers. And the assisted suicide thing makes me ill. I have 2 elderly parents and I couldn't even imagine either of them ever contemplating a thing like that. We're in no rush. At least not those of us that count. :)

You lead the reader into the topic very well. As medical technology has advanced, a mother can tell early on by the sonograms that the baby is actually "alive and kicking." I can't believe that many abortions are performed for the sake of the mother's health. In most cases an abortion could be avoided. There are always couples eager to adopt. I'd agree that an abortion may be necessary in a few cases, but not until all options have been exhausted. judi

You make a very valid point in acknowledging the many gifts we are so fortunate to receive during our lifetime. We all have our own perspective of what we have and what we have been given in the past. Some value these precious gifts and others are just not aware. But, if we are aware we definitely cherish them. Very thoughtful!

I'm not offended by your essay. I agree with you. Personally I'm against abortion and euthanasia, but I think other people have the right to choose according to their beliefs.
Thanks for sharing.

I admire your courage in speaking out. I'd love to see you expand on this. Bring in some of God's other gifts, perhaps. Of course people will disagree. And I suspect you have compassion for those who disagree.

Wow! Amen! I enjoyed that very much, very deep and profound. The greatest gift of all is life and too many of us throw away that gift or waste just simply waste it.

Beautiful! And so true unfortunately. Even if its not by abortion or assisted suicide, it is by neglect itself that those gifts are thrown away. How many children grow up with no direction to make a beautiful life for themselves and how many elderly are left to the care of incompetent nursing homes? I appreciate you bringing this to the public view! Great work!
