What a lovely free verse, Yvonne!! I loved the theme of the box of mementos but even more how you made each item come alive with your descriptions of the simple things which have meaning because of the connection to loved ones.

    I truly wore that gumball machine ring for over a year. No one ever said anything about it. Which is a good thing. hahaha. I still have it. Thank you for such a lovely review.

Yes. It reminded me?? Of those sweet, toothless smiles?
(Ravelled it is.)

A lovely conversion of your memories gathered carefully in your precious box all wrapped in a bow.
Nicely done.

Your poems always break my heart, damommy. I think that we share a strong love of family, and you convey that so beautifully in your poetry. I wore a 25 cent bracelet for years, even though it turned my arm green, because my daughter bought it for me. I still have it in a velvet box. She eventually told me to quit wearing it. Unfortunately, I have dozens of bins of memories from the world that I love. At least they are not trashing up the house, but my attic is full. I love each and every item. "So many memories."
Thank you for your lovely, lovely poem.

    What a beautiful review. Thank you, Debbie. I have lots of memories stuck in other things. I don't part with anything, especially anything from my sons. I have a big jar a rocks that used to bring me. hahahaha

A very well-written free verse poem about the little wooden box that keep treasures of life and not necessarily treasures of high value, but small treasures that makes the heart warm.

    They certainly do, and I wouldn't part with a one of them. Thank you, Sandra.

DM,

How very precious! Do you think we all have special places like this where we capture and keep our treasures? I hope so - I think this is universal!

One note:
1.) I'm reminded me of those sweet
--> delete 'me'

Thanks!

Hi Damommy, This is gorgeous writing and beautiful sentiments. All in my mind, I can picture each and every item that you had and why you had it. Very special and thank you for sharing with us in a beautiful free-verse. Cheers, Fonda

Lovely little poem about a collection of memories, something most people have and forget about, often left to be discovered by grieving children. It's good that she found it and got to enjoy the memories each item aroused. :)

    I'm not a poet. The only poetry I write now is humorous or silly.
