Another surprise ending! This so reminded me of watching my grandchildren yesterday (ages 4 and 8)! I never read your endings first as now I am well aware, the ending brings the surprise punch! Well done, creatively thought out. Great job and Good luck!

Oh I was just thinking back to my kids doing just this, until I got to your little twist in these two tails. Another great little interlude Maria,
still smiling.
cheers,

This is just the PERFECT write for the empty-nesters whose pets have now become their kids!! ;) ;) Absolutely loved it, Lady Maria.... almost looked like my house except we've two cats and they're actually sisters! ;) ;) Thanx for the smile! ;) ;) Yvette

Loved this whimsical story! Yep, cats and dogs are just people in fur overcoats as far as I'm concerned. That last line conjures up a lovely picture. This piece has a very high cuteness rating!! Cheers, annh :)

I'm glad you liked it. Thanks.

Haha, Maria!
And that's why we didn't keep the kitten we found! I've enough refereeing to do between the children, never mind adding to it with a cat and dog combo!
I enjoyed your cute story :)
Best wishes as always, Debra x

First of all, the image of the little boy on the stool (hour glass) is priceless. That's a good way to know how long a kid is sitting there with an hourglass stool to keep track. However, I know the story is about a cat and a dog. My cat and dog get along without trouble and I'm grateful for that. I still keep an eye out for trouble ad monitor them. This is a cute story and gave me a giggle. Marilyn

Hey, Maria.
Our dogs--all five including the three big ones over fifty pounds--know better than to mess with our three cats.
Francesca, the youngest and only female cat, lets them get to her every once and awhile.
But the two male cats, Timmy and Aiden, are well over ten years old and were shelter cat rescues. They don't mess around.
Like your dog and cat, all of them usually get along without a hitch. But, they have their days...
Thanks for sharing your story.

I wish I had a six.
This is a delightful and playful tale.
The twist made me smile. But having mothered humans as well as felines and canines, I know that little ones of all species have a lot in common.

Love it when I don't see the end coming! You are a master of these clever twists! I is SO true that our pets become part of our family that I can just imagine them "tattling" on each other! I used to have two beautiful cats...both long passed...they were cuddly and sweet to one another 99% of the time but now and then. WOW! FUR would fly!--Karenina
