It's wonderful to read something on FS that isn't bashing our President or our country as a whole. I get soooo tired of that. As if they don't have their own issues. I think America is headed in a good direction, and whatever comes, we're still the best there is. Thank you for mentioning the brave. I have/had a lot of family that's included in that. 8-)

It is getting more and more difficult to find this pure and simple ode to the USA...without one side or another screaming "snowflake" or "liberal" or worse! I loved the clearly stated and most patriotic color scheme...sometimes just saying it from the heart is what does the trick...
I'm staying positive... Thanks for an uplifting read!--Karenina

If you work toward what you want, that's how it comes to fruition. And if we ALL do that, then success is ours.
I love this review, Karenina. Thank you. xo
-
And I love your writing...all of it.--Karenina

I need more Kareninas in my life; it's as simple as that! xo

A very lovely presentation. Great wording "There is no I in USA but there is an US. Good thought to keep in mind, because sometimes it seems that all we hear from are the "I's." I look the point you make about the makings of a good citizen. Through good times and bad, we're still here. May the U.S. live long and thrive. Great rhyme, and best of luck in the contest. judi

Thank you, Judi, for all this positive feedback. Anything we want is there for the taking. A little COMBINED effort --i.e. COOPERATION!!-- and VOILA! We have the country we want. Seems like a simple enough concept to me!
Wonderful and encouraging review. I appreciate it very much.

This meets the contest requirements beautifully! It is nice to see a piece about the home of the free that focuses on the positives instead of all the negatives. After all, no human being is perfect so how could the country they live in be any different? Good luck in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

I couldn't agree with you more, MysticAngel7777. And just like with people, the more you perseverate on how 'awful' they are or their situations is, the more atrocious and insurmountable the problems seem. It's not as if ANY country is problem-free, after all. Sheesh!
Anyway, thank you for this terrific, encouraging review. I couldn't appreciate it more. xo

This well-written, patriotic poem is very moving and rousing. Yes, we are
so fortunate to have our hard-fought-for freedoms. Sometimes we just
don't realize how blessed we are.

Oy, that is SOOOO extremely true!! I get exhausted listening to the daily grumblings! Do these people actually imagine there exists a country that DOESN'T have issues?! But dwelling on them does no good. But your effort into FIXING them, and then I'll listen to you. Otherwise, I'm tuning you out, right?! It's like listening to locusts after awhile!
Anyway, THANK YOU! I love this review. xo

Ra, ra, beat the drum, wave the flag... Old Glory in your hands becomes a poem to remind all of past, current and future glory.
This is my favourite line: "Home of the free because of the brave".
I have a new nickname for you now: RaRa
Your positivity and encouragement are infectious (in a nice, not poxy, way)

I'm okay with that. Gawd knows I've been called way worse on any number of times and/or occasions!!
Thanks for the fun review. xo
-
Who would want to insult a sweetheart? Interestingly, I have never had a nickname... had to invent one myself here on FS.
-
I'd give you a list, but no one has THAT much reading time!!
(That's a haha from Ra-Ra.)
I love that you invented your name and have never given away your real identity. You're like Superman that way! (I have high red leather boots and long red leather gloves if you want to borrow them. You'll have to find your own cape. Sorry.) xo
-
Dearest Ra-Ra, If you are the squirt you say you are, there is no way my big feet and large hands would ever fit those tempting red boots and gloves. And they are no doubt useless for riding a motorbike in. Or probably even for walking in. Maybe you just put them on to be taken off by Bobby? My cape blew off when I was skydiving. (Actually, I have never jumped out of a plane... I am saving that thrill for my 100th birthday)
-
Actually, in an upcoming Lessons in the Key of Life chapter, you will read of how I put those high red leather boots were put to good work! (And p.s., when did I ever call myself a squirt?! It's true I'm shorter than my Amazon sisters; but at 5'5", I feel I am "above average.") As far as you fitting into these lovely accessories, have you not read Cinderella? You just 'gotta wanna' enough --like those ugly stepsisters!!
I'm glad you're saving skydiving for The Big One-Oh-Oh! Did you see the 91-year-old parachute the other day, re-enacting his paratrooper days? Very impressive! I'll be down on the ground, 105 by then, helping to hold the big rubber hoop the fire fighters use. [Will you be rich enough by then to be cinched up to a naked instructor? I want to know if I should wear my bifocals or not...]
-
You might be above average in many other things...
I am confused... you say you will be 105 when I jump at 100, but I thought I was currently older than you?? Are you a dog or something? I won't need to be rich cos my loaded and generous friend Ra-Ra is going to pay for my jump because she will be a highly successful, prosperous, internationally acclaimed author. We just have to decide where this jump will take place. Maybe not over NY - I wouldn't want my incontinence undies to get tangled on the Statue of Liberty. Solution - I'll jump naked, too. (You'd better leave the bifocals at home!)
-
I thought you were 58. Or was that some vintage story or something.
I'll make you a promise: when I become a highly successful, prosperous, internationally acclaimed author, my first purchase will be a pair of leather incontinence undies for your skydiving adventures. They'll be red like the long gloves and over-the-knee boots you'll have squeezed yourself into.
Woof!
-
Well, I WAS a youngster of 58, but that was 8 years ago! I had my 66th birthday in April. I put my year of birth on my profile, out and proud. But it scares me how fast the years are flying. I have TOO MUCH TO DO to be dead.
-
Oh my gawd, you ARE a hag!! Well, I'm feeling ALL KINDS of zippier and whippersnappier now!! Thank you, LisaMay!! xo
-
That is my gift to your upon this day, but be very careful, my luscious young thing... cackle, cackle...a hag is a witch and I know some spells (I am good at spelling)
Maybe it is time I put a profile photo up. But my last portrait pic broke the camera.

I really like this Rachelle. I believe that their is a reason for the word united in the beginning of it. A house divided against itself can't stand. If we're not careful, we'll repeat mistakes from the past and be thrown into civil war. The time to stand united is now and it's past time for people to wake up out of their sleep. If you don't stand for something, then, you'll fall for anything. Brave men and women bled for that red, white, and blue. I've seen football players kneel down and not stand or hold their hand to their heart. If I were the coach, they'd be financially penalized. I'd also want to deport them to a country whose flag they can respect along with everyone else here who disrespects it. I could go on and on. I enjoyed this inspirational and well written Independence Day poem. Well done!

I agree whole-heartedly with the way you think, Jeffrey. And I also think there's far more of us; we are the Silent Majority rather than the squeaky wheels.
Thank you for this EXCELLENT review which I absolutely loved reading! xo

You need to send this to every congressional delegation for they seem to forgotten or they just blatantly disregard. This very good. Keep up the good work.

With your help, I can do that. If we all just keep up with what's RIGHT and weed out what isn't, then together we get where we want to be.
Love this review, Rikki. Thank you. xo
-
Thank you very much. Being afraid of the PC police I am careful about what is RIGHT.

I hear you on that one! I'm almost at the age now, though, Rikki, where I'm going to be able to say any damn thing I want, and nobody will shame me. They'll just whisper, "Leave her alone; she's old."

An inspiring verse accompanied by our country-flag. Yes, there is no "I" in USA, nor the same in 'team.'
Our country is a great team of various peoples with many diverse backgrounds and beliefs. Most are also independent thinkers, but the fringes of our great society also cause the majority of us all sorts of angst.
Somehow, I wish that your message might be broadcast beyond our FS community.
Very nice effort for this contest!

Hi Rachelle! I WISH I HAD A 6 LEFT!!! There have been so many great offerings this week that they have been really difficult to hold on to, though I usually try to be really picky! I love this entry for the contest. Your presentation is great too! Good luck with the contest! :)
