Now you have us wondering. "That Undiscovered Country" a metaphor of course for some new adventure that only you are aware of. So much released from your heart in those few words. Oh the mystery!

Thank you, Raffaelina. It?s from Hamlet where he speaks of what comes after death.

I am so fond of this poem. When I first reviewed it, I thought it had won second place, but now I see it was actually third, so I guess I should revise all that chatter about first place ties that never happen. ; ) The poem is first class, even if not in first place. I love the reference to Hamlet and the rich symbolism here. It is a wonderful little poem in so many ways. I wish it had tied for first place.

I like that! Hoping, someplace where the natives can still be allowed to commune with their higher powers! Maybe, they just need to travel south to the Mexican border, where all is going to swimmingly...

Congratulations on having 5-7-5 so well received in the contest. Thank you for your note especially since I had forgotten about the line from Hamlet. I enjoyed your reflection and reinforcing artwork. Have a peaceful Sunday- Joan

Congratulation on placing. (It should have won IMO. The message certainly relates to me and all those nearing the end. Nice use of metaphor.

Your 5-7-5 poem gives me pause to think of the undiscovered country, undiscovered in actual sight, of the place we shall see one day as each of us are aging. All will debark on newly discovered shores. Love the artwork!

Nope. Not yet. You do not get to leave that easily nor that early. There is still a great deal more to do here on this plain. So buckle up buttercup, strap on your battle belt, secure your big boy undies and prepare to fighr once more the good fight. Hurrah!!!!!!!

This is a most excellent contest entry! The line and syllable count are spot on (you have to try REALLY hard to miss the mark there LOL). I simply loved the theme and the way you have executed it by choosing your words so wisely - in fact while writing this I decided to bump you up. Good luck in the contest and thanks for sharing.

Well, I liked that. Hi Bill that is a great 5-7-5 poem. You seem to state the blatantly obvious and that's what makes it stand out. I loved it. I wish you good luck with the judges. It's a great entry. Ulla:)))

Undiscovered country is part of Hamlet?s -To Be or Not to Be- soliloquy. It is the unknown that awaits the departed.

Bill,

This is that spirit that conquered so many countries and changed the world. While I was at home writing and watching TV. Hmmm... I think that says something about me but I don't want to study on it.

This is a very clever poem, though! Thanks and good luck!
