This is a nice tribute to your father and all fathers. This will draw the reader in to identify with your experience or become in touch with what you write about in the 2nd paragraph. Hopefully, most will agree that there are good days and rueful days but they are mixed as you address here. I'm glad you have good memories. Nicely written.

Hello Aussie, I love this poem - dedicated to your Dad. A good poem well written. Many men were smokers back then - they were dished out in the war to calm their nerves. Lovely end stanza advising others to appreciate their dad. Unfortunately mine was killed in the WW2. My mother has been dead many years, but I think of them always. LOVELY READ - Take care - love Dorothy x

Hello Dorothy, Thanks so much for the lovely review. Dad served in New Guinea for three years, came home when I was 3 months old. I think of both my parents often, they were good days, eh? Love, Kace.

Hi Kace. Great job with this poem about your dad. Thanks for joining in on the Picture This post for Father's Day. I should have read this poem before I answered your PM. Hugs, Marilyn

I always look forward to you posts. You have never disappointed me. Your relationship with your father is precious and one to be remembered fondly. I did not get along with my father but occasionally I do think of a few of the funny things he did to make me laugh. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you for reading Sasha. Dad's and daughters do have a tight relationship...good or bad. I was lucky he loved me so much and taught me how to fish, write, read, mathematics (ugh) and so much love. Bless you, Dad still watches over you sweetie. Love, Kace.

Kace,

This sounds like such a beautiful memory. I know many have this of their Dad. I have few memories of my Dad, very few.

You have honored yours greatly in this poem.

I know my kids love their Dad immensely, regardless of his shortcomings and faults. He, too, was a smoker, but has paid a dear price for his addiction.

Have a beautiful day Kace... and thank you for the favor , but mostly who you are and your friendship.

Jimi
