A very well-written gratitude poem about a daughter who is grateful for her mother's sacrifice to help her grow up and now that she is old we have to care for them too.

"drowning in deep sorrow, but in a grateful flood."

I like that your poem tells a story which comes full circle. I hope it helped you in your grief to write about your mother. Writing about my parents helps me. And still brings tears after many years--'a grateful flood.'

You are so very right. I am glad I took care of her, and it wasn't always easy. But, it was worth it! She knew who I was until the end, and not everyone gets that gift.
